Isn’t this just soft bigotry of low expectations?

“A math education professor at the University of Illinois...”

As the saying goes,

“Those that can, do.

Those that can’t, teach.

Those that can’t teach, teach teachers.”

“Educators” like her are responsible for the poor performance of American school children as compared with their counterparts in other developed countries.

And, the implication that minorities can’t perform as well as whites is racist.

How do they do it in other countries, like Japan or Ireland?

I’ve never given this much thought.

Rochelle Gutierrez sounds hispanic to me.

Dinesh D'Souza had in one of his books that at the time, only two blacks got their PhDs in [real] Mathematics the previous year.

All the other blacks awarded "math" PhDs were in "education", such as Prof. Gutierrez's degree.

I think she's just piling on the Kali JC system dropping its math requirement.

But that would be cultural appropriation.

What’s a guy to do?

Mathematics solves real world problems. Keep the politics out of it or the solutions will be just as screwed up as found in the political realm.

Knowing that 4 + 4 = 8 is not a “white” thing, nor a thing of “privilege”. Its an educational accomplishment that knows not gender, race or ethnicity.

>>And Asians and Indians can’t jump and have no rhythm, so more proof that they’re actually White people wearing clever disguises created by White people to fool “authentic” people of color.

Ahh. Now that makes sense. When they get “woke” they can see through the disguise.

The lefty solution to all high performers....stop them from being able to be one, make us all dumb.

...of course it is the only solution if you want true “equality” (of outcome), lower ALL boats. The notion of having a society in which one can be as successful as one tries to be is just unacceptable. Forget that it actually helps raise all boats is also lost on them.

And yes, this is, again, the bigotry of low expectations.

Maybe she is on to something, if Blacks and Latinos decide they don’t need no stinkin math or english, then so be it. The Democrat Slave Masters depend on an illiterate under class to maintain their power, and Wealthy people want their houses cleaned and lawns mowed.

Yet in some big city school districts a person must have an education degree, and only an education degree, in order to teach. If a retired engineer wanted to teach math or science, no go.

Mathematics itself operates as Whiteness. - Rochelle Gutierrez

This is an excuse for poor performance due to Leftists having ruined public instruction, substituting marxist cultural imperatives for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Does this phony professor have any inkling of understanding that math, and science, was integral to the placement of every brick, every window, every desk, every stairway, every exit and every air conditioning vent in his school? Even his paycheck is calculated using math on equipment developed by science. Or did he forget, in his race to racism?

When Europeans migrated to points around the world, they tried to spread math and science. In some places it took hold, resulting in successful societies that could participate in, dare I say, globalism. There were always those on the fringe, however, who feared loss of power and status if they didn't reject the offered knowledge. This professor reminds me of those fringe people, a narcissistic bully who wallows in power through manipulation of the ignorant in an abusive way, and who knows his power fails in the light of logic.

You nailed it. My PhD in EE allowed me to teach undergrad and grad math and EE. At universities. Not in high school, since I obviously did not know how to eddikate.

Democrats don’t want minorities to learn math or proper English. Who does that sound like?
