1.2% of whites owned slaves.

Blacks started legalized slavery in America: Anthony Johnson sued in Virginia to enslave John Casor in 1655.

Blacks kidnapped their fellow blacks in Africa and sold them to slave traders.

I nor my family ever owned slaves so, no, I don’t owe anything.

However, the UN has taken our money for 6+ decades with absolutely nothing to show for it except for a fancy headquarters building on our property. I want reparations from the UN. Plus interest.

A small part of me says ok, take your lump-sum of cash and that’s IT...it’s even. No more social benefits, no more quotas, no more affirmative action, no more complaining, no more anything that puts one race over another.

The group asserts that the reparations are due because of the disadvantages caused by 245 years of legalized slavery of black Africans in America...

Yet more proof that the UN is nothing but a den of low IQ liars and thieves. Slavery existed in the United States of America from its inception in 1776 (or 1783 if you go by the official start date of the US Constitution) until 1863 (or 1865 if you only count the North winning the war). That's, at most, 89 years. I don't give a damn if there was slavery on this continent before 1776 - you can't blame a country that didn't exist yet for something that was going on then. For that, you'd have to talk to the Europeans, who are the ones who brought black slavery to the Americas. For that matter, talk to the muslims, who sold the Europeans the black slaves, and talk to the black Africans, who sold the slaves to the muslims.

You know who you're not going to badger for more money on this issue? The country that fought an extremely bloody war to end slavery, then spent the next 150+ years reforming itself to make the millions of black people who live within its borders the richest, most pampered and well-protected black people on the planet.

I'd be willing to do this: pay reparations to any black person in the USA who can prove a black slave ancestor, but a condition of accepting the money would be that he has to move to Africa.

When that’s factored, African-Americans may owe the US Treasury a rebate...

How about anyone who ever owned a slave, make reparations to those slaves and leave the rest of us alone...

My ancestors came over from Ireland in the 1870s, so not sure what this has to do with me anyway...
