Ethical questions?
The only ethical question I can think of is, does it really work?
The 91% number, if accurate, argues for widespread deployment!
Given the small number of homos, couldn’t the algorithm just say everyone is straight and still hit over 90%? Also humans, brainwashed by media and advertising, probably have a bias assuming far more people are gay than really are, hence the algorithm would have much better performance as stated. Seems logical.
AI has gaydar too?

Given that gays make up about 2% of the population, one could guess everyone as straight & have a 98% chance of being right. Yet this AI can’t get but 81% men & 74% women right. Obviously it is biased towards choosing gay over straight.
No. You would be a 0% chance of being right in identifying homos. It is not guessing straight people. It is guessing homos.

Ever met someone ugly that scowled a lot? Hold your face a certain way for years and it really does ‘stick like that’. If you habitually have certain expressions it leaves a mark.
If they're talking same-sex attracted, that's a whole different issue.
I call this app a fake. They gays are always looking for acceptance & various ways to increase their perceived public numbers thus this is yet another PR ploy on society to say “ hey our numbers are growing “
Please why put the thing through breaking point already. Don’t you know that with emergence of AI you are going to be hurting it’s feelings?
There goes the narative that they are “just like everyone else.”
I’ve noticed, with the males I knew were “gay,” that a common element seems to be in the hands and feet, with either/or being diminutive disproportionately. I’m not saying necessarily small, but a little weak, lacking vigor.
I was in band, and the choice on instrument was almost always on the mark for male members.
Woodwinds - gay, especially the double reed instruments.
Brass - straight, except for French horn, which was mixed or nerds/intellectuals.
Percussion - virulently straight.
Band directors - about half and half.
