I’ve been to St Thomas twice on cruise ship stops. Beautiful in the daytime but I was warned by several merchants not to hang around downtown after dark. There are groups of locals hanging around parks and street corners in the downtown who, I suspect, would be much less friendly towards tourists after dark.

NOLA did it and got slapped after the taking. By the time the court ruled all the improperly stored guns were junk.

Of course the idea that encouraging armed citizens to cooperate with the police and guard in maintaining law and order could be a benefit never occurs to statist would be despots like this puke of a governor.

Talk to the looters’ union rep. He’ll get them to fork over. If guns are outlawed, only islands will have guns. And no man is an island, even though some are outlaws.

" die in order to make a statement against a local governor who is probably going to get smacked down hard over this decision"

The statement isn't political, and it isn't aimed at the local governor...
The statement is: If you come to confiscate our guns, you will be shot. And the target audience is the fools who would follow such an order, no matter who issues it.

Think long-game. If there's no one who's willing to die to follow some idiot's orders, the idiots won't really be in charge, will they?

It is a classic. I tried to get my 19 y.o. to watch it and she couldn’t handle all the racist jokes.

These kids cannot wrap their minds around the fact that the movie is making fun of the racists....tney hear the bad words and are shocked.

She fled the room politely after 5 minutes.

Alaska is indeed the “continental” United States.

However, it is not part of the “contiguous” United States.

I climbed the highest mountain in the contiguous United States. It is in CA. It was not that hard.

However, the highest mountain in the entire “continental” United States is in Alaska, and kills folks trying to climb it. It is way higher and colder.

I am very careful when I tell folks I climbed the highest mountain, to lead them to believe I am a bad ass, when in reality I am not.

And of course, they did this by “accident”.

...........got two good friends, a lawyer and his wife, that I’m waiting on hearing from. I heard from her around 5 am this morning and she said they were hunkered down in their condo with 75mph winds hitting them and no power. The condo faces north on the north side of the island about 300 feet from the water.

Real worried about them at the moment.

The power doesn’t surprise me as it often doesn’t work on a sunshine no wind day but effectively there is no police control on that island. And when there is the judges let them go because they are scared of them. Hopefully the National Guard is there.

.........it’s a beautiful place but I found after a long time that I KNEW I was riding on luck. 3 people I KNEW well were murdered in 13 months. One little ten year old boy had his cell phone stolen at knife point by a brother. His mother left the next day...............never came back! Dad had to stay and run the business until he could sell out.

Many parts of St. Maarten are just no go after dark. Condo’s are advertised for a million but you can buy them at auction for a third of that. This is what uncontrolled crime brings.

Who knew that the US Virgin Islands were that much of a crap hole? That's pretty eye opening. Are the European owned islands any better?

No, same thing. Murderers average around 6 or 7 years prison time IF THAT! Another friend of mine was robbed at gunpoint on St. M. crossing a main street in broad daylight. The police, except for the gendarmes, are totally corrupt and feared by many more than the bad guys.

The couple I spoke of owned a restaurant on the island and were from South Carolina. Their own security guards at the complex they stayed in which was a very upscale complex tied them up in chairs in their condo, robbed them and abused her and then hacked them to death with machetes.

The local media covers it all up in the interest of their own survival financially and physically (their body).

They ran the story of the couple killed a few days and after that it just sort of went away. Then, so did I.

I won’t even visit there any more. Go to Anquilla and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. Crime there is far less. Police forces much better.

“If I remember right New Orleans tried this after Katrina and got slapped down hard by the federal courts. The big question, since the Virgin Islands is a territory and not a state, are the protected by the 2nd amendment?”

Technically the 2nd amendment explicitly apples to U.S. Territories as all laws there are subject to Congressional oversight.

The 2nd amendment was never intended to be applied against the states by contrast which is why pretty much every state as an identical article in their state constitution.

That said after a hurricane is probably the time when you most need your gun.

"...you create the appearance of compliance..."

That is how I would play it with a wild Category 5 hurricane literally hours away with rushed and soaked guardsmen at the door.
Smile, advise them you eagerly wish to comply with the law, then hand them a clapped-out rusty .22 LR plinking rifle.
They will be on their way in under 90 seconds, they'll cross your address off a dumb list, and a patriot does not commit a ceremonial suicide.
