I don’t think they’ve turned on them. Some are trying to distance themselves in order to reduce the risk of being blamed. But most of them are not that smart.
The Left turned on them, when they realized it would damage them.

The Dems want to disassociate themselves from Antifa, but we should not allow that.
It is the most disappointing thing I have seen in a long time. I wanted them to double- and triple-down on AntiFA, BLM, impeaching Trump....But they wised up.
I suspect George Soros has perceived that publicly supporting AuntieFaye is stirring up the Reaction and is counterproductive to his goals. That doesn’t mean he will stop funding them. AF is established now and does not have to have public support of the libs to continue to tear down the nation. They can “distance” themselves from it now. It will do fine on its own.
Hedging their bets so that when it all goes down they have deniability.
My answer: The Left has BETTER POLLSTERS than the Republicans...and the reason for that is because Republican pollsters are told what the results of their polling will be (by the GOPe), BEFORE they even do the polling.
For the 2016 campaign cycle, the GOPe had their pollsters convince EVERY REPUBLICAN running for President that being for strong border security and against illegal immigration was lethal, and would doom them with the hugely growing Hispanic population (hugely growing, of course, due to lax border security and uncontrolled illegal immigration).
Well, they did convince everyone at the time (early 2015)...but a bit later, one final Republican joined the race, and he certainly wasn’t in any mood to be ‘convinced’ of anything by such a pathetic bunch.
I suspect the Democrats, instead, simply use their pollsters to find out what their voters want.
The democraps knew that their support for Auntie Fa was going to bite them in the a$$ big time in the near future, so they are cutting their losses now.

I think the libs got hold of some internal polls showing that antifa was being hung around the Democrats’ necks in public opinion - ‘rat pollster and analyst Doug Shoen was on Fox last week and practically fell off his chair saying at least twice that he personally denounced antifa and that they definitely were not part of the ‘rat party - he never could quite bring himself to state that neo-Nazis and white supremacists weren’t Republicans, but he was certainly off antifa.....
leftist Dems are totally panicked about the major negative impact that the vids of these violent and avowedly anti-USA anarchists are having on their electoral prospects.
word went out last week on the leftist tom-tom network to condemn these thugs, and more importantly, to signal their financial backers to back off. there’s been a series of articles from major leftist “news” sources in the last week with headlines like “Antifa Anarchists Attack Peaceful Right-Wing Demonstrators”.
WaPo had an article like this as did the San Fran Chronic, and I’m sure many others.
this is not out of the goodness of these peoples’ hearts, folks: they’ve been told to shut this down for political reasons because it’s gonna kill the leftist candidates.

I seriously doubt the liberal establishment cut its ties with AuntieFaye. They have got the directive to verbally denounce the violents but they still materially support them. And “they,” I suspect are essentially George Soros. He is still funding them but they were too closely connected with the democrats and Soros probably noted that the citizenry was starting to think of the Democrats and Auntiefaye as one entity.
Antifa got a little big for its britches and started openly promoting violence, and speaking out the truth about what they stand for. I didn’t see the left pull back and start to speak out until Antifa stated their goals are not the same as the Democrats and they said the USA has to go. People were not thrilled with that to say the least. Many of them likely feel that way if not most, but they are not ready to say it in public.
