My son is supposed to go to a Coldplay concert in Houston tomorrow night.
So far, Coldplay hasn't canceled.

It means traffic on 35 and Mopac will even
WORSE.
Lots of rain, not much wind.
After the storm, when they run out of pot, the munchies will kick in and all the Taco Bells will be packed.

The video at the link continues the statement from the mayor to the effect that he wasn’t going to risk the lives of police and fire trying to get people to leave their homes that don’t want to.

The coastal city of Corpus Christi has so far not implemented mandatory evacuations, but Mayor Joe McComb called for people to leave in the "strongest possible terms." Wouldn't the strongest possible term be "mandatory?"

A LOT of rain. Avoid downtown, especially Lamar between MLK and the river.

Strongest storm to hit the Coastal Bend since Celia in 1970. Rode that one out on the Navy base.
Not chancing this one. Headed to northern Arkansas.

115° would be a weather crisis to me. Dry 115° is ten times more pleasant than humid 95°. :)
Our only big problems are monsoon thunderstorms and flash flooding.

Implement contraflow on interstate highways heading inland now or face a parking lot hundreds of miles long. It may be a bit hysterical, but it may not be. It’s been some time since a big storm has hit down there, hasn’t it? Is all new development built to hurricane code on raised pier foundations? If not and you’re anywhere near overwash or flooding from canals, creeks and such, better start making preparations whether your’e staying or going. Vehicles, get them to high ground or even build raised temporary ramps that are sheltered from the wind, that’s what they do on the Outer Banks. Some just drive the front of their trucks up on the porch, or have extra wide french doors with reinforced floors and drive them into their living rooms. Anything heavy that can be blown into the house, secure it. Water, fill your tubs and sinks. Power will likely be out for a while, miserable in summer. Food, got any in the house? Enough to carry you for a few weeks, that won’t spoil? This is where prepping makes a lot of sense whether or not the economic apocalypse ever occurs, major storms. Too late now if you haven’t done it, better head inland with the rest of the herd.
