Hi NN,
Checking in from Seabrook, TX, between Houston and Galveston on Galveston Bay. We’re on the dirty side of Harvey.
Been through several, had most of my roof and half my house's siding blown off. Winds are scary but the rain is what will get you. Unless you live at the shore line flooding rain is the worst IMO. Getting 10-20 inches of rain in a few hours can be catastrophic. I've read that coastal TX might be looking at up to 30. Prayers for them!
Yeah, no need to be prepared.
This is not the work of Dick Cheney. This is the work of the racist, Zionist entity's dogs oppressing the indigenous Palestinian people!
Yes, it was back in late June on the Blanco River in Wimberely, Texas
I remember the afternoon TS Allison started. Almost without expectation it just stopped and rained buckets. We just barely made it home that afternoon.
I guess I was busy with other things and just didn’t pay attention to the forecasts or something but I was not the only one surprised.
Right now rats are plotting and salivating at the chance of hanging this tire around Trump’s neck(President Trump’s neck)
I figured you lived in a landlocked location. Those in the path are busy just now securing and protecting life and property. It’s a bit more than “fun to watch” and a good cup of coffee. You would do well to zip it and enjoy your coffee on another of FR’s many threads.
And then stalls the storm out inland just west of Corpus for three days and counting. Worst case scenario for inland flooding all along the Texas coast and further inland.
Surfs up? You mean gas prices are up. Under bush those folks gouged us at nearly 5 dollars a gallon.
Are you planning to evacuate?
ALL hurricanes are potentially *catastrophic*.
Florida has anti-gouging laws in place for hurricane emergencies.
Breathlessly hyperbolic weather headlines detract from any useful information presented by the actual article.
(This is aimed at the “potentially catastrophic” headline writer.)
You live in a hurricane zone? You should ALREADY be prepared.
It’s not just much ado about nothing.
A cat 3 hurricane is nothing to sneeze at and people will die as always happens during severe weather.
People NEED to be prepared instead of depending on government hand outs to take care of them.
How ironic that they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
If they prep, they are alarmists, and if they don’t they are castigated for depending on the government to take care of them.
Nothing is good enough for some people.
Media already trying to figure out how to blame Trump.
12z GFS...storm is within 50 miles and its landfall spot 4 days later
Another clueless comment from Kansas.
Good luck. Get out early.
I was living in Bellaire when the Texas Medical center flooded in 2001. My wife was delivered home in a canoe after 610 traffic was stopped due to rising water.
