Books? People who destroy monuments and statues that are historical would never destroy or edit a book or document? What if a law was passed to the effect that owning a book considered politically incorrect is hate speech, therefor a crime?
Very little history is taught in school now, what passes for history now is more discussion about feelings, what was right and wrong- mostly wrong about our past from the liberal view of course- anything else is already politically incorrect.
Of course we can always teach our own children history without monuments or books...unless what we teach them can be termed racist, sexist, ETC. which can be classified as hate speech and that can be a problem if some get their way.
So without monuments (that can provide a teaching moment when a child asks about them) without real history books, if we are not allowed to teach our knowledge of history to our own children, then how long will it be before they will be ignorant of all history except what is considered politically correct history?
If the Confederate flag is not allowed, and statues depicting Confederate soldiers are not allowed, do you think photographs of those things will be considered okay? Why? What about documents about it? Papers and pictures are more easily destroyed than statues. Most people in this country under the age of 50 have a poor understanding of history already, it would not take many changes for them to be completely ignorant other than what liberals want them to believe.
If you think this is all about the Confederacy and slavery or even blacks and whites I have a bridge to sell you. This is about all the issues liberals and conservatives differ on. Do you think they would stop with this issue if successful? I think they would move on to another issue, then another...
The Reverend Dukes sounds very wise.
