Finally found that old demon in the sky. RIP, hoss.
He was also the attorney who was blown up in the car in the Pelican Brief and was Julian Robert professor and lover.
Also just a few days ago, John Heard who played a lawyer for the FBI passed away.
Two fine actors have passed.
RIP. ALS is a horrible way to go.
Yes, throat cancer, another vicious disease. He passed away in 2012.
Saw “The Band “ twice. There music was as tight and flawless as their studio albums. Once at a little junior college 68 or early 69, here on Long Island about 1/2 mile from here, in 3rd row seats. And 2nd at the Woodstock Music and Arts festival at White Lake New York in August of 1969.......in a sea of people’s.
Oh no, so sad.
LOVED him in absolutely everything he did.
Terrific with Ellen Burstyn in RESURRECTION.
RIP sweet Sam. :’^(
You’re so right about that. I was amazed after watching the Woodstock video of “The Weight” - it was as good as the studio version, unlike so many of the other drug-addled performances from that concert.
I’m sorry but Joe Cocker’s “With a Little Help From My Friends” from Woodstock is an overrated bastardization of a decent Beatles song. It’s OK but it’s not iconic in my view as so many others would make it out to be.
48 years ago. I made it a point to concentrate on certain performances at Woodstock. The Band was one. The Who was another and gave a fantastic performance.
The best theatrical performance was by a guy, no a group I didn’t care if I saw or not. Sly and the family stone had me mesmerized. What a performance.
I have seen brilliant musicians who were not good at performance. I saw Eric Clapton with Cream in 68 and solo a number of times at various venues. He is incredibly talented. But he sits there like a lump. But he sure can play that thing.
I regret leaving Monday early. I heard riffs from Jimi in the distance.
Today, 73 years is not a dying age.
But ALS will shorten any life. 30 years ago ALS might have taken Sam at 63 years.
I really liked Sam’s work. Sorry to see him go.
I liked the book, too. My father was a military pilot at the time.
Loved him as Loretta Lynn's dad in Coal Miner's Daughter.
Great actor
And singer and band leader
Wow. Didn’t know he was ill. Enjoyed his work. RIP.
