A single jet engine and the whole thing is Chinese. Uh huh.

I believe it comes with a parachute like their prop models.

Does it come with their parachute system or is that extra?

The parachute system is an optional feature, probably adds $5 million to the price tag...lol.

That's over 1,300 commercial airline tickets at an average price of $1,500. That's just to buy it (without added taxes etc), let alone insurance, upkeep and maintenance, and paying for a pilot (if you don't personally fly). Doesn't seem to make a lot of economic sense, even at that ‘cut-rate’ price.

It has a parachute, but unlike the piston powered Cirrus, the parachute is in the nose.

Cirrus's SF50 Vision Jet cost $1.96 million There was the Eclipse 500 that I believe at one time listed for less than $1.2 mil. Could haul quite a bit more than the BD-5, and about as safe.

As always, "affordable" is relative. You can be in a whole-aircraft-parachute equipped SubSonex for about $100,000. This looks like a whole lot of fun!

Look at it this way... if somebody’s going to be grabbing your crotch it’ll be you or your significant other and not the TSA.

I'm already in an RV-6 for a lot less, with a reliable engine so I don't need a parachute.
