Once I had a Japanese woman explain to me that they had no use for feminism because they don't want to step down. They have it the best of any women in the world, or at least used to before too many of them decided they had to go to work full time and compete with men.

Up until just a few years ago, Japanese husband gave his wife the entire household earnings to manage and she gave him back an allowance of roughly $300 per month. She managed everything else took classes and went shopping when he was at work. She allowed him to pretend he was in charge only during those rare times when he was at home.

A lot has changed since I last lived there in 2002, but when I went back for a three week visit last fall, I discovered a lot also has changed little. It is still a far saner society than ours.

I read a study not long ago that looked at traits of "masculinity" and of "femininity." Participants in the study looked at photos of people and rated them on how manly or how feminine they were. Overall, black people (of both genders) were rated the most masculine, and Asians were rated the most feminine.

Most mixed race marriages are between black men and women of other races, or Asian women and men of other races. It seems to be related to the findings of that study.

In its most basic biological sense women marry men for protection and sustenance.Pajama Boy is not going to fight off any tigers or housebreakers or mice and he is not going to provide much for a woman and her children from his parents’ back bedroom. If she and he are faced with a robbery on the street he would be expected to faint or be the first to run away and leave wife to the mugger. I know it is official- it is doctrine that all differences between men and women, physical and mental, are strictly social constructs and imaginary and need to be overcome. But human nature- DNA and the Hand of God- cannot be overcome.

In the aggregate and certainly not in all cases women go for men with more masculine physical aspects, muscular guys who take no nonsense. Men often prefer women who need protection (more delicate) and are loyal. That leaves oriental men and Negro women with the short end of that stick.

That is an idea that seems to have been in Western civ too. A middle class housewife in 1870’s London was a middle manager who supervised a maid, a cook and maybe a stableman while the husband supplied the funds to run the household. The most common occupation for either a man or a woman in London in the last part of the 19th Century was a domestic servant of some kind or another.

When he lived in Nevada Mark Twain was evangelized by Mormons. A Mormon elder became exasperated at Twain’s smart mouth answers and finally told him that if he (Mark Twain) could quote just one verse from the Bible where polygamy was expressly forbidden then he’d leave Twain alone. Mark Twain quoted Matthew 6:26 “No man can serve two masters; for he will love the first and hate the second or hate the first and love the second.”
