It is very possible Oswald did it all by himself for ideological reasons.
A book I have (don’t have time to look it up) by a former Soviet guy suggests that he got the idea when in the Soviet Union. Supposedly Soviet radio listening post in Cuba was told to stop all traffic and listen to Dallas on that day.
I think this is a believable story, Oswald did it as a Soviet agent, Russia backs away at the last minute but Oswald does it anyway. We probably knew the connections but it would prove far too embarrassing to admit it thus the sealed evidence.

NJ - you are correct on the “magic bullet” trajectory being possible based upon the seating placement of the jump seat being six inches lower and almost a foot in-board. My problem is the condition of the bullet. Barely out of round even though it went through the torso of two adult males, smashed two ribs, shattered a wrist and a femur and was discovered “laying on a gurney in the hall way”.
I’ve seen documentary footage where a similar bullet was fired through a cadaver wrist and was absolutely flattened on the end.
Did they see a getaway car speeding away? The grassy knoll is not a secluded location. If you were on the sidewalk watching the motorcade, the grassy knoll is immediately upslope behind you. You could be at the top in five seconds.

It was impossible to make that shot. I know they had an expert that did it, but that was after 7 of them tried and he had 3 chances. 1 out of 21 times does not convince me.
And the computer simulations that place Kennedy up higher than Connolly so that the shot lines up are just wrong, look at the Zapruder film- he is not up higher.
This was a government job.

Oswald was on the first fllor when the shots were fired according to photos and testomony. The rifle was taken into the room where his body was kept, corrupting the evidence.
