From the time Rich left the bar till he was shot was 3 about hours. The bar was 1.8 miles from his house, about a 35 min. walk. The question is then, where did he go when he left the bar and who was he with?

This is a dead end.
Even if there WAS something here, it would have been buried by now, and if it hadn’t yet, it would now, thanks to telegraphing your intentions before filing.
There is also the distinct possibility that enough was handled in real time... but even if it wasn’t, still just ‘suspicious’ or circumstantial.
And there is the third and real probability that there is no ‘there’ there.
No matter what, I still say, dead end city.

And how did he get the bruises on his hands - as his family has said existed?
What caliber gun shot Seth and was it one of the ‘stolen’ FBI guns allegedly taken from a car less than a mile away?
Was “Panda” Seth or a group of hackers?
To: z3n
the thing that bothers me is that in a suspected ‘robbery’ no one went for the wallet or jewelry...

DCPD thanks him for the heads-up so they have time to make sure any remaining real evidence magically disappears.

That happens in a case if Seth was drinking and had a little liquor courage going on he tells the robber you aren’t getting anything, a tussle ensues, Seth gets shot, robber decides that a wallet and watch aren’t worth the time and just bolts. Not saying that’s what happened, but it’s certainly possible.

No doubt. If he was robbed, why was it “botched”?
As in, why wasn’t anything valuable taken?
And, why was he shot?
The only hypothetical that I’ve heard floated was that he resisted or refused. That would possibly answer why he was shot, but not necessarily answer why he wasn’t robbed. If your some street thug looking to rob someone, and your quarry is uncooperative to the point that you decide to pop them, then why not actually finish the robbery??? You’ve obviously decided you’re not going to abandon the act and just bail out of the situation so much so that you want him dead.
All that is old hat though.
My whole point is, this PI has no chance of solving this case. If the DC police and FBI aren’t solving it, it either means it’s not solvable, or they are obstructing. Either way, no PI is going to squeeze blood from this stone.
That’s my main point.
This guy either has two outcomes, the first is somewhat self serving, the second would be in the interest of others:
1) He ends up on Dateline or interviewed for some half hour program about his theories about what really happened to Seth
2) He helps put the story to bed by re-affirming the assessment that it was a botched robbery by all the available information
I just don’t see anything coming out of this.

Wheeler found an email in his bed.
This investigation will end up similar to the Vince Foster affair.
Seth Rich committed suicide by shooting HIMSELF in the BACK, TWICE.
This is not the leaker you are looking for. Move along.

If you believe that, you would believe that Vince Foster committed suicide.

There is over a millin dollars in reward money from various sources. Criminals are not rocket scientists. They talk to other thugs. If this was a robbery gone bad someone will step forward witn information so he or she can claim the money.
If none claim the reward, it was a hit job.

Has Wheeler withdrawn from the case? Did somebody shut him up with threats? Or, is he still on the case of the Seth Rich murder?

Which means.... if it’s not a street thug, then nothing viable is going to come out, and the questions will eventually stop getting asked and the story will fade away into the dark depths of conspiracy websites, but for a few more months at least, people will be asking questions and making certain poeple squirm, particularly if anything else happens to connect Seth Rich with DNC leaks.
They had better get themselves a patsy.

It’s not a dead end. Seth went somewhere after the bar ...someone knows something.

"Its not a dead end. Seth went somewhere after the bar ...someone knows something."
Not anyone who can or will talk! Alright, I've been avoiding this, but let's go full conjecture. Conspiracy mode turn on: First, I believe that Seth knew he was a marked man. He was expecting a visit from the kind of people you don't want a visit from. I think he may have been expecting it on previous days, but on that night he probably felt he was at higher risk. Listen, if you just outed and betrayed one of the most powerfully connected political figures in the U.S. and you realize they are on to you and want payback, and you've got a lot of time for this to worry you, you do a lot of thinking. Paranoia set in. You wonder what is around every corner. Why did he feel he was at higher risk that night? That's when bad things happen to people. Weekend, late in the evening. It's the most believable time that you would run into random violence, including home invasion armed robbery, or car jacking outside your house, etc. Some things I have read about his phone calls have lent credibility to the idea that he felt he was at risk, including phone calls he made to people close to him. Now, paranoia is something that can be exploited. From what I've read about things like this, people are intentional put on edge in order to push them over the edge and get them to do things that put them at higher risk. Dropped calls. Unusual objects appearing in your private spaces. Strange sounds to wake you up at night. Agitating looks and postures by strangers. When you do this to your target, they either get heavily reclusive and easier to watch, or they fly off the handle and start to do things that make it look like they incited their own problems. From his activities at night, I get the feeling Seth Rich was a rather cool customer. He wasn't going to be agitated and hide away. In fact, I get the feeling he thought he was most at risk if he stayed home. He must have felt that whoever was coming for him would not be inside or even directly in communication with anyone in the intelligence community, or he wouldn't have carried any devices with him. He must also have known that not carrying a phone is exactly the kind of high risk decision that the paranoia would incite. So he thought he could stay out in public in sight of crowds and people as long as possible, so long as he wasn't home... alone. Now, here is where my conjecture really get imaginative. I picture him walking the streets away from the bar in off directions, to see if anyone is following him. I imagine him doubling back on his track, and going around a block to cross an intersection where he had been previously to see if any parked cars had moved, or anyone or any vehicle looked familiar. I imagine him moving around his home, circling it from blocks away, carefully watching to see if anyone was waiting down his street, thinking he could trip them up by coming from a direction they don't expect him, hoping that he could see them before they see him. I imagine he tried to stick to better lit areas and in places not so vacant of people. This took hours. Almost 4:30 am? It's gotta be safe now. No one is going to assume late night violence at this hour. Sunrise in just over an hour. He is tired. It's getting chilly on a June morning. Afterall... it's probably just paranoia. Head for those door steps. Oops! Who are these guys?
