Good idea. Most state legislatures are Republican now, so now is a good time to get this started.
I hear everything you’re saying but I don’t think you’re hearing me.
Your list of action items is great but right now no national political person or body is supporting them except Trump.
People stating Trump/Congress/Supremes, whatever need to do this or that, when they know that’s just NOT going to happen.
I see this all the time on Free Republic, and it is JUST so FRUSTRATING.
For example, the Judge that recently ruled that Trump cannot halt money to “Sanctuary Cities” even though it is a government GRANT. So every one gets on the thread and shouts, “Trump should just ignore him”, or “Congress needs to impeach this judge”, or “we should ride him out of town on a rail”.
BUT...
That’s not happening. Trump has to calculate every move he makes so he can continue to go forward. He had to get Gorsuch in, and now he needs to let the case wind its slow-ass way through the courts. Trump’s not going to just ignore the decision. I don’t know why, I still believe he wants to do it, but it’s going to be a hell of a fight.
All talk but no action for so many FReepers. Its easy to say this or that should be done, but who besides you are actually working on it?
Try as hard as I can, but I cannot get more conservative members of Congress elected. Jeff Sessions was my Senator but my Representative, Martha Roby, is a GOPe RINO. I fought for her opponent but she just didn’t have the name like Roby. I made phone calls and radio call in for Becky (the local TEA Party founder) who ran against her but it didn’t get her even close. AND my district is conservative.
How CAN we implement your list if no politicians—or not enough—support it, and the democrat party and most of the GOPe are dead set against it?
Your list is WONDERFUL, but I don’t think Congress is going to implement it. You may disagree.
What I’d like to hear from you is HOW it gets through Congress and to the President’s desk, when we can’t even get a freakin’ budget passed for the past 9 years.
Washington is broken, and cannot “do” solutions to real problems any more!
Your list contains real solutions, but Congress is out that business unless they’re something in it for them.
Not true. Jeff Sessions has been a leader in that regard. Steve King, Mo Brooks, and others have also been leaders in that regard.
For example, the Judge that recently ruled that Trump cannot halt money to Sanctuary Cities even though it is a government GRANT. So every one gets on the thread and shouts, Trump should just ignore him, or Congress needs to impeach this judge, or we should ride him out of town on a rail.
I am very confident that Trump is going to win these cases in court. It may take some time, but once the issues are resolved, the court cases will diminish.
How CAN we implement your list if no politiciansor not enoughsupport it, and the democrat party and most of the GOPe are dead set against it?
Much of it can be done without Congressional involvement. As we are seeing now with AG Sessions, enforcement of our existing immigration laws is working. There are plenty of tools available now to the executive branch. Obama abused them in favor of rewarding the lawbreakers.

You seem to be taking a different tack now. In your earlier postings, you advocated American exceptionalism and that we could assimilate the growing hoards of immigrants, legal and illegal.
There are ways to mobilize the American people to force their Congressional representatives to do the right thing.
On August 1, 2013 I wrote this piece, Mass Immigration versus the Rights of American Workers which laid out a strategy to change the tide. I tied it to the American worker, which crosses party lines.
On March 13, 2014, Jeff Sessions wrote an article in the NR, Becoming the Party of Work--How the GOP can help struggling Americans, and itself.
I am convinced that this article provided the template for the Trump victory. It should be required reading for every GOP office holder or candidate. Immigration is a winning issue for Reps, if it is used properly. Please read it. It is not as long as the Huntington article.
The reason that Sessions endorsed Trump early on and released Steven Miller to move over to the Trump campaign to handle immigration and trade issues, is that he realized that Trump was the only one who understood how immigration was a winning issue. Trump's position paper on immigration was written by Steve Miller. Since his victory, Trump has brought on immigration experts from FAIR and CIS. He is enforcing immigration laws. People should be patient because the effects of these changes will take a little time. It is the reason I trust Trump and his team, especially Sessions and Miller.
So I guess I am a little more optimistic than you are. We need Trump in for 8 years to do the job. The salutary effect will be enormous on local communities that are bearing most of the costs of immigration, legal and illegal. For example, in Fairfax County, VA, a few years ago, the school district was paying $110 million a year in ESOL teacher costs out of an annual budget of $2.5 billion. Property taxes keep going up to prop up the school system, which is flooded by foreign students. The hospital ERs are crammed with foreigners who use the ER as a free health clinic. And MS-13 has one of its biggest concentrations in NoVA.
Once the facts are known about the costs of immigration, more Americans will demand an end to our existing policies.
You seem to be taking a different tack now. In your earlier postings, you advocated American exceptionalism and that we could assimilate the growing hoards of immigrants, legal and illegal.
Yes, I think the idea of America, in so far as the Founding Fathers made it, via the Declaration and Constitution, is indeed exceptional--and the ideals the promulgated are good for humans anywhere. Not everyone needs to come to America to become what the Founding Fathers thought a person had the right to be--endowed by our Creator-wise. They need to implement such government in their own country.
In NO way do I support any illegal alien. Someone who purposely sneaks in or overstays their visa is a criminal and must be booted out. No amnesty!
Legal immigrants ARE another matter. I don't have an answer there. I would like us to go back to the national preferences we had BEFORE Ted Kennedy's perfidious legislation ruined it.
On the changing tact point, yes, I really do think the forces arrayed against us in Washington DC are too much to expect any changes to fix the situation. Both the democrats, whom, as you correctly point out want the political power that third-world immigrants give them, and the GOPe Cheap Labor Express, who feed at the trough of wealth due to allowing illegals into the system to work for less, will fight to keep the status quo. That acknowledgment doesn't change how I view America, just Washington, DC.
