She crossed the Rio Grand near Big Bend which is not patrolled so well because the river and terrain are difficult.
When I lived in El Paso, there was a “clinic” in the Lower Valley downstream from El Paso. A “Doctor James” delivered Mexican babies there and had a stack of US birth certificates. At that time, he charged $200 cash to deliver a baby.
The Mexican women would wade the river to have their babies on the US side.
Oh yeah, his doctorate was in HISTORY. He killed a lot of women and babies there. At that time, anyone could get a midwife license for $3.
I was a hospital administrator and found out what was happening as the women and babies often ended up in my ER after he botched the deliveries.
I went to the El Paso Times with the story. Not interested. It did not fit the narrative they wanted.
LOL, funny one, and even funnier because it’s so very true.
He could be a genius of the order of Einstein, and the left would mock him as ignorant, illiterate, and stupid merely because of his Southern accent.
Funny how that works-don’t anyone dare to mock ebonics, which speech really is likely to indicate illiteracy, but mock Southern accents to their hearts’ content, because the South was traditionally the bastion of conservatism (though the left is making unfortunate inroads into it).
Some of the most intelligent and erudite men in American history spoke with a Southern accent.
Aside from all that, many find it pleasing to the ear. I have seen a few surveys in which the British say they find the stereotypical Southern accent (ie, the deep South accent) the least objectionable American accent to their ears.
