Don’t forget, there’s a huge difference between what you know and the information the President is operating on.

That statement is certainly more true than you may realize. I’d love to be back in the comm center again and see what is coming across the NSA wires right now. I guarantee what we see is at most ten percent of what is really happening.

I think this was done to get Russia out of Syria.

I am one of the FEW here who agrees with you.

ALL of you here remember Obama's RED Line? Assad gassed his people! What did Obama do?

The Pussy crawled under his desk and did nothing!

Trump showed the whole world he is more of a man than the idiot before him!

The CIA -— That pied on him? are you nuts? They sucker him in because he is STUPID!!

I'm not even saying that Trump believes the CIA, but if the CIA is telling you with absolute certainty that an attack happened, then as President he can't do nothing after he criticized Obama for not following through on the "red line" threat. The left and right wing would be attacking him, including the Freedom Caucus types.

Assad will lose his airfield, though I have a sinking suspicion they received advanced notice of the attack, and that is why US officials are saying "no people were targeted," because they were allowed to evacuate before hand.

“Based on the timing of his meeting with certain world leaders—Jordan’s king, Egypt’s president, China’s premiere—I assume that Trump knows exactly what he is doing and the end result will be increased cooperation dealing with our mutual enemies in the Mid East and at the north end of the Korean peninsula.”

That was the first thing I thought of. Trump is very worried about Kim Jong Fat. Id bet this has more to do with that nut job than anyone else. Especially since the chinese premier just happens to be visiting Trump today.

The hysterics here and elsewhere are dismaying. What I’ve seen is that Russia has backed away from unconditional support of Assad, both Russia and US are calling for investigation and confirmation of the nature of this supposed sarin gas attack, and now we’ve got Tomahawks bouncing the rubble at an airstrip that is alleged to contain chemical weapons, which will no doubt settle down the war hawks but involves no boots on the ground. It appears to be largely a symbolic retaliation, to me. It also appears to me that low key diplomacy is ongoing between Russia and the US regarding this situation in order to avoid escalation, their backing off of Assad just after the supposed sarin gas attack and just before the Tomahawk missiles were launched seems not coincidental. I’ve also read that Russia was informed of the Tomahawk missile attack with several hours to get their personnel out of harm’s way. I disbelieve the story on the gas attack, it looks theatrical to me. It was intended to provoke the US and Trump. The reaction, even with Tomahawks flying, is actually fairly muted.

I literally can’t believe that’s what you’re worried about. Pathetic.

We have an over abundance of tyrants right here in our own country that need to be dealt with first.

Besides, if it was sarin gas, why are the police handling the bodies not wearing protective gloves, as per protocol? (See top photo in link below).

I agree. This was more about Russia than about Syria.

He did lie, BIGLY! A major part of his platform was a promise to keep us out of the Syrian Civil War.

I said I FEEL like that. I don't know what may be behind this, and maybe Trump has justification for it. If it is really a damn big deal that this has to be done, I'm fine with that, but right now it feels like a punch in the gut, of which I've had about 26 years' worth.

I am definitely glad my kis isn't in uniform anymore though.

“But being a woman with young grandchildren, it is damn near impossible to watch little kids burned with chemical weapons. I would rather stop these horrific crimes before they come to our shores.”

Then you’re falling for the propaganda. Please think it through: What Trump did makes it far more likely such actions will be brought to our shores.

We attacked a sovereign nation allied with Russia. A nation that did not attack us and very likely did not use the chemical weapons. False flag written all over it.

What is pathetic is attacking a country who has not threatened us in any way. If ISIS was targeted, fine. But not Assad, who has been fighting ISIS.

I dont want ANY of our troops in Syria..I dont want any of our troops anywhere in the Middle East..we have long enough..sending missiles is fine by me but ZERO ground troops..ZERO..we have lost enough soldiers. I think this was President Trump’s way of showing that he is NOT Obama..that when someone gasses their own people he won’t stand for it like Obama did..question is what did Assad have to gain by gassing his own people..that is why I dont know if he did it..why would he..to see what Trump would do..I have no idea

I seriously doubt Trump really cares about the death of a small number of children in Syria.

That's what he's led off with each time he's discussed the situation, including a few minutes ago. And he mentions his big heart and innocent young people when he declines to keep his promise to end the DACA program on day one.

If the plight of children is not affecting him, he sure is talking about it at every opportunity.
