You're forgetting one significant fact Proust....Trump said that with the understanding the Republicans were ready with a replacement...they weren't obviously...they were not prepared one iota to replace it even if they had the vote for replace....therefore it needs to die on the vine or repeal it entire and let the markets open. Playing around with Obamacare is just "swamp-feed" getting no where at all except robbing time and resources on a dead horse.

Trump hiring Priebus was a big mistake, considering his history with Ryan. And then there’s Ivanka, Jared, Gorelick, and a few others who’ve infiltrated the top level.
He’s having some accomplishments, but reneging on NATO and some tax issues have me worried a bit.
The huge thing he’s got going for him is that he’s not a politician in the DC sense of the word. That will give him a pass on a few stumbles.

What I mean is that, were Paul Ryan to be replaced as Speaker, the new Speaker would still be a swamp-dwelling snake.
I see now way of avoiding this.
Additionally, Congress does not historically defer to the President in their choice of Speaker.
