Precisely. Japan was given chances to surrender. They figured we couldn’t sustain the loses necessary in order to invade the islands. They didn’t believe the first bomb. Good thing they surrendered after the second because that was the whole hand....at least for awhile

One of the most fascinating test movies IMO is from the Castle Bravo test...it’s been out there for years. It’s of the initial milliseconds from firing into fireball. In the initial stages the blast acts according to hydrologic instead of atmospheric principles (someone correct me on the terms as needed)...in watching this movie, you can actually see that happening. It’s fascinating to watch.
