A history professor told us that Santa Ana had a leg shot off and gave it a state funeral.

Fifty years ago I saw a copy of the Diary of Davy Crockett in paperback. I didn’t get a chance to read it but I did look at the last page where the last words were something like...”Boom! Boom! Bang! God and Texas Forever!”

Then there was an epilogue written by someone else who said that Crockett and five other men were captured and led to Santa Anna.
The General ordered them executed when “Davy sprang like a panther toward the General when he was cut down!”

I tried to buy the copy from the man but he did not want to sell.

Thanks. There 3 solid accounts by men claiming to be witnesses to the death of Crocket and 4,5,or 6 other Alamo defenders. All their stories are similar, but do vary in details about that event.
