My fifth great-grandmother was Cherokee down in Georgia
Indian Territory. My sixth great-grandmother lived on a
plantation down there (& had several slaves). When my
5th great-grandfather married the Cherokee woman, my
6th great-grandmother pitched a fit about it. So, my 6th
great-grandfather gave them their inheritance in gold &
they sailed upriver on a commercial boat and disembarked at
a settlement on the Tinase (Tennessee) River. That’s how
some of my people got to Tennessee. My 2nd great-grandfather
worked as a lightskeeper on the river & that’s how I got my
Smith & Wesson revolver. (Some rough sorts hung around on
that river & they’d just as soon shoot you and rob you as
to look at you. So, Grandpappy carried. I have the original
holster that he carried it in. It still shoots real good.)
(That was on my dad’s side of it. On my mother’s side of
the family, her 2nd great grandfather also married a
Cherokee woman down in the Indian Territory, Georgia. He
was a fur trapper (Scots-Irish) - McGee. I missed out on
the ancient knowledge for some reason; but still like to
try to go the natural route as much as possible.) The 5th
great-grandparents date back to the late 1700’s, so she
wasn’t around for the march out west for relocation. I
reckon even the negative stuff has it’s purpose. My sixth
great-grandmother’s hissy fit got us to Tennessee; but she
missed out on us.

I found a list of physical characteristics of American
Indians & saw that I had quite a few of those even as far
down the line as I am. (Do you have the “smart bump” on
the back of your head? It’s called some sort of a “ridge”
& when you try to run your fingers up the back of your neck,
the “ridge” stops your hand from going past the ridge. It’s
something that sounds like “Anatolian Ridge”.)

I also learned that they liked to rub their skin with red
clay & that’s what caused them to be called “redskins”.
