I was about your age and also living in Chicago at the time. Remember it well. Mayor Daley was as corrupt as the day is long, but he didn’t put up with a lot of crap.
It breaks part of my heart. There are people who meant a LOT to me who I think don’t even want our friendship any more because of how I voted, whom I support. Those few libs who tolerated my conservatism over the past 20 years. They aren’t coming round no more. Their false info hasn’t poisoned them against me, and I’ve never spoken politics to them unless they wanted me to. At my dad’s funeral I even praised Bernie Sanders to them (preferring him to Hillary as he is not an abject murderous, traitorous criminal).
Diversity of opinion is not welcome any more. They really do hate us just for what we believe. Ironically, that is why they say we hate Muslims. And we don’t hate Muslims, we just fear Muslims blowing up our kids.
She wrote back and said we will never agree, kinda agree with that. Later she was asked a question by one of her leftists friends about who do we help first? it showed a graphic of a homeless veteran and next to it refugees. She answered the “refugees”, in all caps.

Now let me ask you a question: Did you always vote for the first time Republican candidate and later nominee in the primary election? You are most likely lying if you answer yes you did.
I have never voted for the nominee; and I always vote republican, in the primary election, unless the president runs for reelection. Two examples are Presidents Reagan and President George W. Bush. When they both ran for reelection (Reagan in 1984 and Bush 43 in 2004 I voted for Reagan in the primary and general election in 1984 and for Bush 43 in 2004 primary and 2004 general election.
I will do the same for President Trump reelection if he runs and I am still alive and able to.
So it were so simple. That is why Ephesians 6 talks about other's not being my enemy. When we shoot back, Satan smiles. What about Matthew 5 where it talks about turning the other cheek?
These are challenging verses, but must be read and followed to the best of our ability. Satan's fingerprints are all over this.

It's not a question of what I always do, but what I did in 2016.
In 2015 I had three candidates to watch: Cruz, Scott Walker and Trump. I knew the primary campaign would reveal who they were, and it did.
I also realized that 2016 would be what someone later called a Flight 93 election, that PC and the Uniparty were killing us. So I was an early supporter of Trump. I was never a #nevertrumper.
I think #nevertrumpers should reflect we got Trump in spite of them, not because. I think they should reflect a little on how they ended up on the wrong side.
