Note how they had get a dig at Trump by inserting “President of the divided states of America” on the cover.
Trump won more states and won more counties than Hillary by a wide margin. The real divide is between normal Americans and the elites.
I actually expected them to choose The American Voter as Person of the Year and justify it as everyone participated in the event of the year.
Against the odds, Trump was able to overcome the combined efforts of pundits, government leaders, political parties, and a corrupt media and win the election of President of the United States. Although not stated, the efforts of James O’Keefe with Project Veritas and Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, had a significant part in it for exposing the corruption, and possible criminal acts, at all levels at great personal risk to both of them.
Did they cast doubt in 2008 when they named zero MOTH?
Better of worse?
They would not breathe "worse" in the context of Obama.
I half-expected them to abandon that precedent this year and pick someone else--maybe Black Lives Matter or James Comey (with an article blaming him for Hillary's loss). Or perhaps Bernie Sanders.
However, look at their short list:
HILLARY CLINTON sigh...
THE HACKERS Ok, maybe
RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN Huh???
THE CRISPR PIONEERS Who??!!
BEYONCÉ You've got to be kidding me
I mean REALLY? Who else this year could it be?
Of course, not the least similarity in coverage to the fawning over Barry when he was chosen in 2008:
