“I made a bill Cosby joke. You got on a high horse.”
I most certainly did not get on a high horse, nor did I intend any criticism of you. I am at a loss to understand the source of your hostility.
I made a very short, low-key comment on something I have been thinking about, analogous to thinking aloud. And that is all.
I am angry with you now, true, for taking offense without cause and for insulting me. But when I made my comment about Cosby, I had no animus toward you of any sort.
They do play some real Christmas music, though. The Drummer Boy and Silent Night . . . there are others I can’t think of now. I think their choices are more for popularity reasons than musical excellence. And they do try to be “diverse.”
I can’t stand any of them. Just because someone makes a living with a microphone and or a camera in front of their face, it’s assumed by some that they have something intelligent to say.
If they bank this song, there are a lot of songs about seduction that should be banned, including that all time favorite night club belly rubber, Whiter Shade of Pale, which is all about a seduction.
A number of Christmas songs are actually winter songs.
The song was written during much more innocent times. The morons are applying today's sexual "everything goes" to things that just don't apply. Lucy and Ricky and Rob and Laura didn't even sleep in the same bed for crying out loud!
“Just because someone makes a living with a microphone and or a camera in front of their face, its assumed by some that they have something intelligent to say.”
Decades ago Heinlein noted that “The United States has become a place where entertainers and professional athletes are mistaken for people of importance.”
Considering that most of them lack both education and intelligence, this is particularly harmful.
It’s my favorite quote. I use it often in reply whenever someone quotes some celebrity or athlete.
