I think it was George Carlin who quipped, “Did you ever walk around Sears wondering what happened to Roebuck?”

One of the worst things Sears ever did was change the layout of the stores. It used to be you could look all the way across the store and see everything. When they changed it to a maze it became so hard to find your way around; find what you were looking for, and then find a cashier, that it just wasn’t enjoyable to shop there anymore.

Penny’s did it too and I also hate shopping there now.

Sears shouldn’t have messed with a set-up that was working for people.

It's a shame as Sears is a great store with a long history. As much as I like seeing the inventory I think they need to migrate to less merchandise in the store and more of it only available online. Their huge inventory has to be a drag on them.

Sears was a good store. But everything changes, and they are a casualty of the change.

I still shop at my local Kmart. But only for cheap sneakers, underwear, socks, and t-shirts.

As a kid, if we needed something, we just went to Sears and was done with it. Quality usually above average with an affordable price.

One of the things that keeps me out of their stores was probably in the 90’s or so they changed their life time warranty on many of their tools. And some of the tools still under warranty they tried to replace with inferior designed tools.

I was shocked a couple of years ago, tried to do some shopping there. There was no indication from anyone or anything that they were in any way interested in having my money.

Went to the local Sears store looking at artificial Christmas trees this past week. The store was literally devoid of customers and sales clerks. Our current tree is 16 years old and past its expiration date. We looked at every tree they had on display, taking us about 20 minutes. I found a suitable tree to buy, but the two sales people who had been at the cash register with customers when we arrived were long gone, as were those customers. There was absolutely no one in sight for about 10 minutes. This was in a wide area filled with tools, snow blowers, and appliances. Unwilling to chase after a clerk, we went home.

The next day I went online to the Sears website and found the tree I wanted was an additional $15.00 off and another $10.00 off using a certain code word at online checkout. Topping it off, I will receive free shipping to my front door.

The arrival of their Christmas catalog was the beginning of my holiday season.

Dear Sears. Transfer your quality name to the box stores and vacate malls.

Put the K-Mart name on Family Dollar sized stores.

This is not rocket science.
