The very heart of the matter.
Same thing in the town I used to live in, she cited me for not watering my lawn enough (middle of the 80’s drought), but always seemed to miss the 25 or 30 illegal aliens living in the same house/garage/attic at the end of the street.
RIGHT ON!! Exactly the same kind of situation is responsible for Chicago's ongoing young black male auto-extermination.
“Under the law, hes the one whos really on the hook here. But where has the city ( and the Fire Department for sure) been? I own a commercial building in the SF Bay Area and I can tell you that I routinely get inspections from the Fire Department in the city where the property is located, and so do each of my tenants individually.”
And what would happen to you and/or one of the tenants who refused the FD access??
He’s known since the fire people were missing and presumed dead. They probably went to him for a head count.
Numerous expansions over the years made the place a rabbit warren.
Storage was on the ground floor - paint; feathers; bamboo rods.
Every fire truck in the town had a map of the premises on board.
Fortunately, a new factory was built and the old one torn down.
Everyone who lived, worked, or visited there must have known it was a deathtrap.
Yep.....read that at heavy.com. Owner was told. Owner and his wife....major pyles. Just saw a guy on Cnn saying he knew about the hazard....then blamed the city for making rules. Those rules make it hard for places like this to exist.
Making people move underground to have these shows.....unreal. The city had to have known too. How many bribes?
I was watching one eyewitness account on the local news. He felt the fire burning him and climbed out a window and jumped to the ground. He was near tears as he explained that he didn't see anyone else escaping, was looking for friends but few people got out. He will have nightmares for life.
Yup. Micah is a man’s name.
Many, many bribes, I suspect, paid by both the owner and the tenant/manager.
People can usually rent (safe) space for performances, but it’s harder if the performances feature large quantities of illegal drugs.
Micah is a man’s name, but the Micah in question is a woman, at least according to the Daily Mail. It seems to be trendy: Kathleen’s riding teacher has a granddaughter named Ezrah.
City employees are people, with all their inherent flaws. I've had disputes with building inspectors in several cities, due to feuds with neighbors, and got the inspectors off my back. One was demanding access, and I forcefully told him no way and he never came back. In another, I argued in a call to the department head and he told me he tore up the case notices and there would be no more inspections. As a side note, I got them to come down hard on the bad neighbors. Some inspectors are diligent and fair, some others not so much. Some are lazy and just get by.
Seems like everyone in there knew it was unsafe, but they were there anyway. It’s very sad that so many died, but it’s sort of like tornado-chasing: what did they expect?
Interesting.
Well, considering the geographical location, the artsy nature of the thing etc, I did presume the *companion* was a male as well.
That was my first thought, too, but the DM and Heavy.com (post above) say female.
Kind of a sad commentary on our times that our first thought was that.
Yes, it is. Given the relative rarity of homosexuals vs. the relative abundance of gender-neutral names ... well, I’m not sure where I was going with that.
