Fixable problem. Rewrite the contract. It is that simple.

Sorry. I should have clarified. Small American company made cars are not profitable when they are made here to UAW work requirements. One of the class projects for my MBA was to compare the costs of cars made in foreign countries that use subcontractors on each line. Acme may make and install the seats for example. But the Acme employees would not be union. The subcontractors bid against each other for the privilege of making the seat AND installing it. This keeps costs way below having UAW employees who make more money the longer they make the job last.
Get rid of CAFE Standards and expand Right To Work.
Tariffs, and threats against Ford, are the goldbricking UAW's best friend.
