Wouldn’t that be perfect?
Wasn’t there a Wikileaks email that involved Weiner being asked to ship a secure phone to Hillary? Perhaps Weiner was also the one asked to ship the missing laptop somewhere. But he was too busy with his other hobbies and didn’t get the job done.
I floated this theory when the story broke:

I’d wondered the same thing.
I mean, Platte River mailed a laptop (who does that with something as valuable as a laptop, especially with potentially classified info?), and it got “lost” in the mail? A thumb drive got lost the same way. As much fun as it is harshing on the postal service, they’ve NEVER lost anything for me.
I’d figured the laptop and thumb drive had just been destroyed, with the “lost in the mail” given as a semi-plausible excuse.
Easy enough to determine. Somewhere there has to be a record of its serial number. If not, there has to be a record of its MAC address somewhere. This stuff is not rocket science folks.
Of course, toss in the hubris and the knowledge that the fix seemed to be in and who knows....
