McCrory has actually been a decent governor. He fixed the budget, reduced taxes, gave teachers a raise, and is addressing infrastructure needs. However the state is changing demographically, becoming more urban and more liberal.
Senator Burr is a pure RINO. He is best friends with John Boehner and definitely is a party man. His voting record has move from conservative to moderate as he has accumulated more years in the Senate club.
Many of our GOP congresscritters talk a good game during the campaign and once elected immediately focus on serving the goals of the donors. Some of the responses to letters and emails I’ve written my Congresswoman, who is a member of the House leaders, are priceless. Her emails to constituents are pathetic.
McCrory will likely lose the Governor’s race due to the bathroom law which his opponent is running against as well as his former employment with Duke Energy which is getting bad press for dumping coal ash in the rivers. Watching the TV commercials you’d think McCrory’s only job at Duke was to intentionally pour coal ash in the rivers so the taxpayers would have to clean it up.
The timing of the decision of the NCAA to pull basketball tournaments out of NC was perfect for the Dems. This action was taken in response to the bathroom law. North Carolina lives for college sports, particularly ACC basketball. Pulling the tournament has angered fans at McCrory and the legislature, not at the NCAA. Fans know McCrory’s Dem opponent will fight to repeal the law in the courts and legislature while McCrory supports the law. They can have their tournament back by voting against McCrory.
The race is close in NC and many women I’ve spoken to don’t like Trump, because they view him as a male bigot, but were going to hold their nose and vote for him anyway. The Trump audio tapes released today may push enough women from Trump to not voting, or to Hillary, to ensure Hillary gets the electoral votes. If Trump loses the state, I expect Burr and McCrory to go down to defeat as well.
Good analysis of Tar Heels: they seem to be a confused lot since five elections for Jesse Helms.
