158 grain .38 special is rough in snubbie. Stick with 132-125 grains or less in full metal jacket target loads. Great defense loading is Speer Gold Dot +p 135 grain hollow points. Some go old school and use 200-158 grain heavy wadcutters.
Often people get “action job” — buff and polish on internals for revolver to smooth out trigger pull.
