Senator Cruz stunned conservatives when he refused to endorse Donald Trump at the RNC Convention in Cleveland. This came after Cruz was thumped in the GOP primary race. Perry leads Cruz in a senate primary matchup 46% to 37%.
The Texas Tribune reported:
A new poll suggests there is at least one fellow Republican who could unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018: Rick Perry.
The former Texas governor would beat Cruz by 9 percentage points, according to the forthcoming survey from the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling. Set to be released later today, the poll found Perry would get 46 percent of the vote and Cruz 37 percent, with 18 percent saying they are not sure whom they would support.

Payback’s a biotch.
Patrick, probably. But he really needs to raise his profile. Abbott, possibly. If he can stay healthy.
I’d vote for ANYONE before I’d vote for Cruz. He’s totally responsible for his political demise. Smart-ass, disgustingly smug, sleazy, creepy and those are his good points. He actually thinks that the people are wrong and he was the ONLY choice the voters should have made. Whaddaya think now Ted?
I didn’t know Rick Perry was running for Cruz’s seat.
Is this just a hypothetical match up?
I would vote for Perry.
But I am not a Texas voter so my opinion counts for zilch.
Ted “In love with himself and his big brain” Cruz or Rick “Heartless” Perry? And they say the POTUS choices are bad...
Oh my.
Cruz screwed the pooch on himself.
Had a lot of potential.
Turns out he is just another grandstanding fraud.
Maybe if we keep trying to get his poll numbers down the POS will go back to Canada.
I never heard that Perry was interested in the senate.
*****************
Not sure Perry expected a seat to be open much less a shot at running against an incumbent
and winning. Cronyn has been there for some years and Cruz would have been an incumbent. But
Cruz did do what some expected and was using the Senate seat as a stepping stone. So if
Perry is interested and so chooses he may have a good shot at putting Cruz out to pasture.
Perry would be almost 69 years old when taking office if he did run and win. My guess is
Perry would be interested in some other type political work for a few years.
Ruh ro ...
Just wow. Big fat turd vs stupid douche.
LOL
After Rafael Cruz’ despicable speech at the RNC, I decided I could never ever vote for him again because he is a man without honor. I hope Rick Perry will run so I will have the opportunity to vote for an honorable man. It is time to kick Rafael to into the political graveyard.
Hate to inform you, but this poll is not speculation.
At this moment in time, Cruz is losing to Perry.
Could it change between now and 2018.
Of course it can.
However, at the moment looks like Cruz screwed his own pooch.
Good.
Cruz needs to get off the stage... his grandstanding was offensive... Cruz can ‘neverTrump’ himself to the dust bin of history.
#RetireCruz against his will.
Cruz could always pick “Face” Florina again for VP.
