Let’s hope that the back-up generators don’t kick-in tonight and the power goes out just as Hillary takes stage. How could the country not see THAT as a sign?

“Lightening” is incorrect. The correct spelling is “lightning.” It’s now a daily occurrence that I see it misspelled, usually on Facebook but now here in a news article (which manages to spell it correctly here and there!).
To: Fantasywriter
Took me a few times through the excerpt to see it, myself.

Got to be safer there than in all of those oil and chemical plants that surround the city.
I was working at Texaco Oil refinery across the river in Wilmington Delaware and we had a huge lightning storm hit. Talk about scare the $#!+ out of you! Nothing like being in the middle of 5,000 acres of highly explosive oil and gas processing and storage equipment when you are being pounded with lightning.

More Rain coming , but it is dissipating quickly as the clouds go over parched and dry land.
The rain system is gradually moving northward.

I dont know when this trend of misspelling lightning started, but it really needs to stop.
Since the ritten wurd is designed to convey a message and you were able to understand what was written, I don't understand your problem.
You have to forgive those who obviously aren't as intelligent as you. Even tho we were all created equil, many never had access to the obvious educational institutions as you........
I bow down to you sir and give praise for having you in our mist........

Lightening vs. lightning
Lightening is a present participle corresponding to the verb lighten, where to lighten is to make light or lighter. For example, we might say that a person who has been losing weight is lightening, or that an aging mans hair is lightening to gray.
Lightning refers to an abrupt, discontinuous natural electric discharge in the atmospherei.e., the flash of light associated with thunder.

I would trust your knowledge and insight on that. I have just enough dyslexia to me spelling without auto correct or spell-checker a bad joke. ;)
