Use a damn courier, then, just stop blowing billions of dollars of taxpayer money on buggy whips.

This minor use case is your justification for spending billions of taxpayer dollars on a dinosaur? Really? I think youre on the wrong forum.
No. My earlier post described how to shrink the post office to its core function so that it isn't a multi-billion dollar junk mail hauler.
Legal mailings are not minor. Our system of law requires it.
If we don't have the political will to dump Saturday mail or close remote post offices, we certainly won't have the political will to shut down the whole thing.
Privatizing isn't always a panacea, either. Cell phone companies, cable companies and utilities in general are widely problematic as they don't lend themselves to wide competition. A naturally oligopolistic or monopolistic industry providing a product or service with inelastic demand tends to develop many of the built-in problems that government service providers have.

(There's no salvation in politics.)

Show me where the law states that legal documents must be delivered by the USPS. I don’t believe that for a second.
