You’re older than me. Truman.
Yes, I know I am. Never doubt me; I'm almost NEVER wrong about anything. :-)
Strunk and White
Would you care to expound further on that ?
As I wrote previously, I am almost NEVER wrong about anything and I am NOT wrong now about this!
It’s ok to write like people talk. Sometimes it communicates better. Other times it’s just more homey. Not a bad goal to strive for.
Those who do neither make me wince and my skin crawl! It is uneducated to do neither and is NOT "homey" ( did you, perchance, mean "homie", as in ghettospeak ? ) at all. And frankly, I don'/t care if incorrect word usage/grammar has now become more or less "accepted"; so has unshaven ( as in 6 o'clock shadow ), t-shirt and jeans wearing to the theatre and pajamas on planes...that doesn't make it right!
Than is used around these parts as a preposition and has been for as long as I remember.
People talk that way around here. “Than I” sounds pretentious to folks in our neck of the woods.
I suppose that you say "lot" and "got" as well. LOL
We get by. We say a lot a lot.
We are big on fixin’ to go places, too.
No to “lot”, but the “fixin’” is a colloquialism, so I don’t get upset/bothered about that at all. Regional anomalies are fine and grammatically correct, in their different regions, even when they don’t make much sense. :-)
Good!
I like Chris Christie... but I don’t think he helps Trump in the slightest. And with all due respect, I don’t think Newt Gingrich does either. They both have negative baggage.
There was a thread yesterday about a military man who was being considered... now that, I like! :)
I’ll try to find it and post it.
Something new and fresh...
Christie and Gingrich can both be very helpful to Trump, but not at the bottom of the ticket, IMO.
Exactly... too “buddy-buddy” with BO. No way.
Well, that is a great ticket. ;) We would be grammatically correct and use few words.
It somehow reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt. We'd be talking with few words and kicking .... grammatical butt. LOL!
I’m going out on a limb here with a guess that since Christie was an exemplary US Attorney in NJ, appointed by Bush, he is hedging for US Attorney and not VP...
I don’t know why the press keeps on hinting that Christie will be Trump’s VP pick? and who cares?
