Good. I don't like this new tax, even with the drop in sales tax because it's quite likely the sales tax will be raised back up in the near future. Christie is a bull dog. I'm glad he's throwing this at the State Senate who yesterday chose to sit on their hands.

Even now, as it looks increasingly more likely that he will be Trump's VP pick, he's sticking it to the Dems in this state that will never EVER, rein in spending on crap like double pensions and the like. Disgusting.

There’s certainly better candidates who would make President Trump a better vice-president.

Maybe, but it sounds like it’s going to be Christie.

Aren’t projects funded by bonds? The payments on which are predictable so why a sudden crisis?

Trump should surprise everyone and select a true Conservative: Mike Lee, Utah

They can be, but that doesn’t need to be the case.

Bill Mitchell is tweeting this morning that Trump is letting Christie and Gingrich speculation percolate so that the MSM will trash them—so that he can bring in the squeaky clean Sessions at the convention.
Mitchell says that one of the reasons Lewandowski was fired is because Corey wanted to leak the Veep choice early!!
I love Sessions but still hope Trump picks somebody who can help him electorally! Alabama is a lock for Trump!!
Wish Sessions’ former aide Stephen Miller could be on the ticket, who warms up the crowd at rallies and is Trump’s speechwriter, but he is too young at 30!!

Christie is a Barry and Hill loving RINO who would be a disaster of a pick for Trump.

And after all these years as NJ guv, he has to take blame for this level of mismanagement.

But really? Who can Trump pick TO help him electorally? And what states have enough Electoral votes for it to matter?

WI?
MI?
OH?

NM is too small. FL? Nah....

I’m not sure any one person helps him much.

Has there been a severe drop in gas tax revenue? Did the Turnpike improvements go way over budget? Was money misspent elsewhere? In other words, why the shortfall?

I’m sick of demands for more taxation.

I hope so. Sessions isn’t perfect, but he is the best we can hope for on several levels.

Money in NJ is always misspent. There are government employees that work for 20 years until they’re say, 45 - and “retire” to collect a pension. Then, they get another State job, work for 20 more years, and get a SECOND pension. Does that make sense????

Our gas tax is one of the lowest in the entire country so it’s not a stretch to try and increase that. But lowering the sales tax is a temporary fix. They’ll increase it again in due time. They never, ever, reign in the spending and that’s what needs to be done.

Camden, Newark, Paterson, Jersey City etc.. are bleeding the state dry.

Contractors LOVE when this happens. They make more money not working than when they are working. The best jobs I’ve ever run were the ones that go t cancelled or owner-delayed.

This action won’t save them a penny.

Looking for help with a particular state is usually futile. Satisfying the base while demonstrating good governing sense goes a long way—and Sessions does that.

(He is also conservative and loyal enough to discourage the other side from off ing Trump in a coup.

That’s what I thought all along but there have been lots of rumors lately. Maybe it’s just misdirection by trump.

I'd say that he needed to be vetted regardless - so why not do it now.

Chris Christie: Attorney General
Newt Gingrich: White House Chief of Staff
Rand Paul: Vice President

Normally, a westerner would be chosen to "balance" the ticket, but there don't seem to be any with the gravitas and name recognition to do Trump any real good. Better to open the door to the Millennials and dissidents by choosing a guy they respect.
