The headline says “Germany says ...” not “German Minister says...” What if Germany held a referendum today? Are Germans happy with the EU, with Angela? With their new migrant neighbors? A number of countries beyond the UK are now considering leaving the EU. What would be left? Would this man still be Minister?

That’s the thing. The German elite politicians will never permit a referendum.

Or if they do, it won’t be a fair one. Probably a loaded question, and if they vote the wrong way, they’ll have to revote until they get the “right” result (like Ireland twice, with the Treaties of Nice and Lisbon).

>>I thought they were more space samurai with an admixture with taoism and chivalry.

In the 1970s and 80s, they appeared to be that, but that was also what Progressivism was in those days.

But, with Episode 1, they began to reveal themselves as they started taking on the same “we know how live your life better than you do” behavior that the modern Progressive demonstrates. (This isn’t because the Jedi changed since they are fictional. It is because Hollywood changed.)

The Sith always gives you a choice. The Jedi takes your child away as a baby to train and will destroy it if it does not toe the party line.

Stupidity and greed sometimes have a high price. They weren’t worth 100k dead and 200k wounded in World War I and ultimately another 400,000 dead in World War II.

Uh, no he didn’t. He left the lives lost in the Lusitania unavenged for two years.

The Lusitania was sunk because the Germans correctly ascertained that it was being used to ship arms, and the Germans even took out newspaper ads warning American civilians not to board her as it was being used to for the English war effort, and hence would be targeted as the non-neutral vessel that it was.

Great way to try to justify the Kaiser at the expense of 128 American lives and 1,068 others (never mind vilify George V, David Lloyd George and Winston Churchill for no reason at all). Obama and Hillary could only hope to have such a tally to their name.

I don’t buy conspiracy theories, BTW.

You mean the way you just did?

128 US lives. 1,068 lives of other people. Unavenged for two years by Wilson. And a canard about “arms shipments” to justify Wilson and Wilhelm II? and make villains of George V, H.H. Asquith, Lloyd George and Churchill? Really?

Truth can be painful to those who wish to avoid it.

You keep looking for someone to ‘avenge’ folks who made a stupid decision.

The EU started in 1957 with just six member nations, to reduce/drop tarrifs for better economic results from trade

The UK joined in 1973.

It is now 28 member nations, and the regulate from Brussell, more and more aspects of local life.

Cameron went to Brussels before Brexit to negotiate better terms, and they refused to budge.

So the UK citizens rightly said, okay we’re out.

The UK was a net contributor, and needs the EU less than the EU needs them.

Especially the truth about 128 American lives being unavenged for two years without excuse. On top of that, campaigning for re-election over those bodies on an anti-war platform. Even worse, going full Obama by claiming a “stupid decision” and justifying the Second Reich’s aggression.

It was more than that back in 1957. The phrase “ever closer union among the peoples of Europe” was in the treaty’s preamble, which stated their intention to destroy national identity; so was the phrase “in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations”, which is a document based on the 1936 USSR constitution drawn up by Stalin.

The preamble also speaks of “a common commercial policy to the progressive abolition of restrictions on international trade”, which is echoic of some of the worst free trade agreements that would follow in later years.

What was probably the most damaging was the common agricultural policy that was established. The EEC even back then was all about bureaucracy and micromanagement from the top.

Now you sully their memory further by calling it “suicide”, in more justification for the Second Reich’s immoral aggression and more whitewashing of racist president Wilson’s deliberate weakening of the USA. Obama couldn’t outdo that one.

You know what is really sad too?

The USA was in WW1 for one year. That opens the possibility of, should the USA have entered the war in 1915 as we should have, said war ending that year.

And if that war had ended in that year, it could/would have saved the Tsar the resources he needed to stop a certain Vladimir Ulyanov in his tracks, never mind many of his fellow travelers. Hence opening the possibility of saving the world from having experienced the abomination known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
