Enough of this nonsense. Everybody have a beer, celebrate and recharge for the battle ahead, this one is over.
Incorrect.
State laws bind delegates to vote for the winner of their state on the first ballot, unless the candidate releases them.
Delegates don’t get to decide the nominee. They’re NOT free agents.
Trump’s nomination is a done deal. Its over.
Curly the Cruzbot is just trying to remain relevant in his North Dakota paradise.
F him.
Well, that’s what I mean - make it unanimous. But you’re right. Better to see the rats in the daytime so you can take care of’em at night. Or something. :-)
UGH, this is BS, don’t the writers have anything real to write about?
Either the delegates represent us or they don’t. If they do they will respect the will of the people as evidenced by the popular vote cast for Mr. Trump. If they don’t they need to be replaced.
I had an opportunity to speak with my county Republican Chairman and told her exactly that. She wasn’t pleased to hear that but then neither am I to have to telling her the obvious.
1237 magic number is determined only by *earned delegate* outcomes from state elections, and not from verbal intentions of already official delegates.
We wait for upcoming elections to deliver the 1237.
Curly Haugland throws a hissy fit yet again, “pay attention to ME!!!”
It is only after the first ballot that the delegates can vote their conscience. Only we won't have a second ballot because Trump will get the necessary majority on the first ballot.
Yeah. F him and txradioguy as well.
But you know what, this convention is gonna be a Trump production. It’s gonna be yuge. A beauty contest. A reality show. Who the heck says Mr. Trump doesn’t have experience!
(he’s gonna make obola’s styrofoam columns look like dog doodie).
Curly always was the dumbest Stooge
Please no! Keep it a simple straight up counted delegate vote on the 1st round. This is critical. 1st round the pledged delegates are pledged to the choice of the voters.
If they had a voice acclimation, some troublemaker would claim it was not unanimous. The next claim would be that that constituted the 1st round of voting and now delegates are unbound. Next thing you know we end up with Jeb.
1. State laws in many states bind the delegates to vote as pledged.
2. Convention rules from previous conventions bind delegates to vote as pledged (going so far as to eject delegates who don’t vote as required and then record their votes as if they voted as directed).
To some extent, neither of the above matters. The rules are rewritten to some extent each convention, and the establishment could mess with the rules and ignore GOP voters if they chose to. I know there would be a penalty, but insiders might not care. That is why Trump needs to pay attention to choosing loyal delegates.
Either the delegates represent us or they dont. If they do they will respect the will of the people as evidenced by the popular vote cast for Mr. Trump. If they dont they need to be replaced.

Good for you. These fools think we actually have to bow down to them. They are our “ representatives” and as such should do what we have voted for , that is Nominate and support the election of The Donald as our next president.
okay. scratch that idea. cancel. cancel.
Mor about the authors:
Curly Haugland, a Republican National Committeeman, and Sean Parnell, a public policy consultant
CNBC just can’t let it go.
Our elections are going voterless. :)
#NeverTrumpers?
Forget it, they lost.
Remember, if its close they can cheat and steal.
It won’t be close.
