I have installed Linux Mint KDE on all of my computers. It works very well. For the few old programs that ran under Windows XP, I use WINE in Linux.
I have dual boot in Linux/Windows XP and decited to put all of my old windows software on WINE. Well, it turns out that most of that old software was for protection and fixes of utilites lacking in Windows.
Linux already was protected and had all of the utilites already eithe installed or available for free. I sure am happy with Linux.

That nasty change trick resulted in my wifes beloved Windows 7 PC being sneakily upgraded to Windows 10 this morning. Sure, she has 30 days to roll it back to Windows 7, but she feels so betrayedlike Microsoft forcibly removed her control over her own PC. ... heres the icky part: The redesigned GWX pop-up now treats exiting the window as consent for the Windows 10 upgrade. Microsoft - more of societies liberal elite thugs...

I’m just going to go ahead and upgrade. The dumb Windows 10 app set a data and time of 05/26 at 11pm for it, but I’m going to postpone it to Saturday, back up the computer, and then go ahead and take the ride.
The app claims I’m fully compatible, but I will find out for sure, and the backup is in case the dumb shits are lying — er, in case something turns out to be incompatible.
I still wonder why Microsoft is pushing so hard for this, but it’s free, and I’m planning to find ways to lessen all their sneaky eavesdropping.

I leave Win7 running 24/7 and never have these issues.

No problem with Windoze 10 unless you have QuickBooks 2013 or prior. A client got bushwhacked by the Micro$oft a-holes and had to upgrade is QB to be back in business. By the time he called me, he’d already installed the new QB and hadn’t realized he could uninstall it. Uninstall has had its fair share of disasters too. Sue the bastards!

You should just upgrade. Win10 is much better.
