WJC rode the tech dot.com gravy train in the 90’s. Heck even Maduro of Venezuela would have looked like an economic genius during that time just riding the tech wave.
Dot Com bubbled n his watch. The burst.
I’m surprised everybody has forgotten how President Bill Clinton ordered Vice President Al Gore to invent the internet, thus igniting the dot com boom.
Lawyers representing the women he raped boosted the economy a bit!
Well, he really DID boost the Chinese and Indonesian economies (While also boosting the Clinton Economy).
But Yeah, any boost to the American economy was either merely coincidence or him being forced to do it by Gingrich, the Contract With America and the Republican majority in Congress, as many above have asserted.
Too bad it didn’t last, but since then; Since they forced Gingrich out of leadership, then out of Congress it has been the Uniparty with the majority, no matter whether the majority pretended to be Republicans or not.
In his last year in office, during March or April, the stock market went into free fall and Clinton did NOTHING to stop it.
Clinton also rejected an offer to get his hands on Osama bin Laden.
Bush then received a damaged economy, and before he could do much, 9-11 happened to damage it even more, because of Osama Bin Laden.
I recall the economy during his first two yrs as marked by fear of HillaryCare. Then Newt and GOP took control of the congress, crushed Hillary’s statist dreams and enacted the Contract With America.
Billions were spent on Y2K to update computers so that they could handle the 2000s. This also gave the economy a big boost that didn’t have anything with Bill Clinton. He got to ride on tails and even then managed to ultimately play into hurting the economy.
Just another case of a rooster taking credit for the sunrise.
Clinton cut the military to the bone. Ask someone who worked in the defense industry how they did in the 90’s.
These new inventions were what really drove the economy during the Nineties. Plus a congress that had some idea of controlling spending.

The growth in efficiency was explosive.
Clinton’s budgets were infinite spending and later he apologized for raising taxes too much (for reelection).
Recession was already over when he came into office. His team (including Al “evurythung that SHOULD be up is down...” Gore Jr.) lied about the economy (”It’s the economy stupid”).
Then there was a tech bubble that was already sliding by 1998 and net stocks burst in 1999-2000.
Also he spent what was called the “peace dividend” by reappropriating funds that normally would have gone to military expenditures “the cold war is ovah!”
$12/bbl crude and he had nothing to do with it.
He had Al Gore invent the internet.
