So de Blasio’s a doctor? Or just an ordinary run-of-the-mill Marxist?

Then womenmwill sue these bars for serving them when their baby has problems.

Government needs to get the fuch out of business. We are full blown fascism.

Chuck Schumer told us this weekend that there have been 4 (OMG!) cases of e-cigs "exploding."

I once saw a bag of Doritos explode in a convenience store in Colorado. I thought of Steve Martin in "The Jerk". "Somebody hates these Doritos!" The FDA should investigate that too.

Drinking rights for pregnant women is a strange cause to be championing as the only one hurt by it is a tiny baby in the womb.

Championing Drinking Rights is quite different than opposing
snotty nanny-state elitists. Mankind seems to have got along
quite well for millenia without a law.. but now we need one?

Because YOU think so?

Tend your ramen, leave the grown-up things to others.

> I am now convinced that de Blasio is certifiable insane.

His condition is caused by Bubbleitis. A condition caused by having too much money, living in a lifestyle so full of luxury without hardships that most people can’t fathom it, being exempt from paying taxes and Obamacare, attending a liberal university and being indoctrinated at a young age, having a minority in your household that can be exploited politically to draw the brown vote, etc...

PBS had a wonderful documentary on Bing Crosby last year in which his daughter, Mary, said that Bing’s first family - those boys - were victims of fetal alcohol syndrome because their mother, Dixie, sadly, was a drunk. If you look at photos of them, you will see it clearly. Mary is the daughter of Bing’s second wife, Kathryn, who I was briefly friends with when she used to visit New York. A very nice lady and a good mother.

DeBlasio’s an idiot.

The nanny state elitists are the ones forcing bartenders to serve pregnant women.

Who gets to decide? Why should the restaurant or the mayor or anyone other than the person consuming the alcohol be deciding this, unless the person is inebriated to the point that the bar/restaurant would no longer serve her?

OTOH, the title is quite misleading, as if the mayor is FORCING the restaurants to serve alcohol to pregnant women, when that is clearly not the case.

My niece and her husband adopted a FAS baby from Russia 22 years ago when that was actually possible. He’s a good kid at heart but constantly in trouble. Got kicked out of the Marines for alcohol problems himself.

Right. The bartenders go down to the Lamaze class and pour bourbon down they innocent little throats.

A pregnant woman, wanting to stay home and drink chocolate milk
is forcibly abducted by Ninja Bartenders and whisked off to an
evil bar where she is forced to drink who knows what venom of Satan, right?

The innocent pregnant woman has no choice at all, has she?

The restaurant decides whether or not to serve, The pregnant woman decides whether or not to patronize the restaurant.

Was that before we understood FAS? I remember some of the problems people were having with Russian children even when they were on the plane home to the USA! That must be a genuine problem over there.

It was not understood nearly as well back then.

I give my niece and her husband a lot of credit for hanging in with him, it’s not been an easy journey.

I have a feeling that most pregnant alcoholics drink at home. Here in NYC, a riot would break out among the concerned and the unconcerned politically correct if some pregnant dame was imbibing in a bar. I’ve never seen a pregnant woman sitting at the bar of restaurants here.

By stating that I would defy the nanny state elitists, even at the expense of my job you lumped me in with the nanny state elitists. When I pointed out that it was the elitists that were forcing bartenders to act against their conscience and serve pregnant women you take that to mean I believe the state is forcing women to drink against their will.

They should make a law saying liquor stores cannot sell alcohol to pregnant women, right?

How is the restaurant or the liquor store supposed to know whether a woman is pregnant or just looks that way?

Who gets to decide these things? What laws do you think we should have to protect the unborn from the habits of their parents?

I really hoped when he got into the Marines that would be a life changing positive experience. But despite being given way more slack than I would have expected, he still wound up being booted out.
