Sure, a complete import embargo on any good would bring manufacturing back. However, the quality and selection would be greatly diminished.
I would much rather be able to chose from the wide levels of quality available on the multitude of different brands, styles and types that we have today over being stuck with the “trabant” of shoes we would see in the case of an import embargo.
I suspect that if you were to ask any Venezuelan, Brazilian, North Korean or Russian, that they would likely make the same choice.
No quality would go up and you would have domestic competition just like before insane free trade started.
You can dream, but reality has proven you wrong in every protectionist country on earth.
You mean like China today or the USA form 1789 to 1913?
Free Traitors, like Steve Hayes of Fox news, thinks the USA has been a free trading and no tariff nation from the beginning. Well he is either a liar or very ignorant. The very first bill EVER passed was the Tariff Act of 1789. The free trading policy fiasco that we will have to endure a little longer, is relatively new and went on steroids with the Bush I administration and his NWO crapolla. The fact is up until 1913 the USA had no income taxes and the Feds were completely funded with tariffs and other user taxes.
The Republican party was historically the protectionist party an IMO needs to return to its pro tariff roots.
