Sure . . . I trust the IRS!!!
IRS: “How much did you make last year?”
Taxpayer: “$50,000.
IRS: “Send it in!”
Simple...your paycheck goes directly to the IRS and they give you back what they think you need. The road to serfdom becomes a super highway.
, using tax information the IRS already has,
I had a carpenter that before this had revenues close to $100,000. After this we only got 1099’s showing he made $50,000 as the home owners never filed the 1099.
He filed his tax return based on what the government knew.
Have your employer send your pay to the IRS and they can dole it out to you every week.
I don’t know everything in the bill, but to an extent, it’s probably an obvious, long overdue step. When I receive income, whoever sends it to me also sends it to the federal government. I don’t report any other income. So the stupid ritual of me having to tell the government what they already know is redundant. Occasionally, I’ve forgotten something and they inform me after the fact and readjust my taxes accordingly. It’s just a matter of them getting their data together, and they should be able to provide everyone with a preprinted tax form of everything that they know, of course, then you or your CPA can adjust it based on things that they don’t know.
For free? All those new IRS agents will be volunteers?
That’s odd. A couple days ago DH and I were discussing that. A news segment mentioned that tax preparers will have to take an exam to do that. The next logical step will be that Everyman will be required to take an exam to prepare his own taxes. Next... Uncle Sugar will handle it all for everybody.
I’d have no problem with them figuring my taxes, if they do a flat tax! I’m not sure they’d even be capable of doing that correctly.
If EVERYBODY filed a hand written paper return the IRS would be so over burdened their heads would explode.
F U IRS!
