Exactly! If encouraging the family is the purpose of this exhortation, talking about homosexuality is superfluous. It should not taint a single page.
Of course, it shouldn't. But it does.

Why even try to equate or compare sodomy to anything but mortal sin, let alone the sacrament of marriage.
Why should "homosexual unions even be addressed in a papal exhortation?
Surely it is legitimate and right to reject older forms of the traditional family marked by authoritarianism...
How many former Catholic popes have addressed sodomy and adultery in such pastoral exhortations and not condemned the same?
