I really wish there were not political parties. Elections should be about the person, not the party. Party politics is a huge factor behind the problems we have today.
Right--and in enriching himself, how many jobs has he created? How many people are working now because of Trump?
It's hard to believe that people post such liberal anti-job anti-capitalist nonsense on a conservative website.
I’m in favor of capitalism. I don’t have a problem with people getting rich. I’m in the top 1%. But the fact is he was buying politicians. Yeah... I have a problem with that. Take a hike.
There is nothing conservative about bribery. People like you drive me crazy....
I agree to an extent. Regarding federal elections, note that the Founding States had given citizens the power to vote only for members of the House of Representatives (HoR). This is because the Founders had also given the power to initiate appropriations bills only to the HoR (1.7.1).
Otherwise, most of the federal social spending programs that we grew up with and mistakenly think are constitutional, Social Security, Medicaid, Obamacare as examples, are based on 10th Amendment-protected state powers and state revenues which the corrupt feds have stolen from the states imo. The corrupt feds established unconstitutional spending programs probably to win votes from low-information voters, voters who have never been taught about the federal governments constitutionally limited powers.
Getting back to elections being about the person, yes, but not for federal elections, not even the president since the Founders had never intended for president to be elected by popular vote; the political parties have trashed the Constitution. In fact, the Founders had arguably intended for citizens to have to guess who the current president is.
The bottom line is that since the constitutionally powerful states, not the constitutionally humbled federal government, has the lions share of government power to serve the people, each state should have its own version of Social Security, Obamacare, etc.. And our attention should be on state leaders, not federal leaders.
