They’re backing Cruz because they’ll parachute in Mittens or Ryan at a contested convention as the “unity” candidate.

Failing that, they’ll be happy to watch him lose to Uniparty candidate Hillary in November.

For the GOP establishment, retaining control over the party is the top priority. Everything else, including winning, is a secondary consideration.

They’re flocking to Cruz because everything else they’ve tried to stop Trump hasn’t worked and not because they love him.

Cruz has no real friends in the party and in Washington.

Yep, the GOPe are desperate that Donald Trump may well upset their ongoing control and are willing to back Cruz , whom they hated, to keep their uniparty.

From early in the article: "Many prominent members of the GOP establishment intensely dislike Cruz. But they now acknowledge that he is the best option — perhaps the only option — to deny Donald Trump their party’s nomination."

They hate Cruz but see him as their only hope, but not as the nominee - they will make deals with him to play spoiler and then renege and nominate someone else during the convention. He's a cat's paw and seems to be blissfully unaware or even worse, glad to play the role if it assuages his own ego.

Sure, it all makes sense...

Trump, whose support and donation history severely lists left, has spent a campaign season talking out of both sides of his mouth, softens his newly discovered conservative positions on amnesty and immigration, Obamacare, etc... and it’s just a “strategy” to reach out to moderate Democrats to gain their support and votes. “Keep your friends close but your enemies closer”, I’ve even heard as a rationale. Either way, totally excusable because he’s “our” guy and we’re the smart ones!

Cruz, who has virtually fought alone against the establishment since he landed in Washington, gets endorsed by some establishment Republicans in a last ditch effort to thwart the Trump campaign and... well, it’s obviously total proof Ted’s an insider with the GOPe! Hell’s bells, he’s a lying scum and you can’t trust anything he says.

::smh:: Sheesh, Paranoia, the destroyer. Lord, please wake me from this nightmare before we lose the Supreme Court...

Governor Walker apparently intends to endorse someone between now and the Wisconsin primary.

I find that disappointing as well.

In every way except with Cruz there are actual deeds to gauge it by instead of mere speculation because "I gotta find something bad about Trump".

Got a fund raising call from Cruz campaign yesterday and told the gal why I switched to trump - Cruz looking more like a long shot and his vow to be a spoiler doesn't seem like the best path to the WH - I got no arguments from her......
