Here comes the $20.00 hamburger. The liberal idiots are destroying American business and driving it out.
quote “When you drive labor costs up too fast and too high, employers will invest in the increasingly affordable technology required to replace workers with automation.”
yep, which is exactly why the industrial revolution happened right after slavery was abolished.
There is and will always be a need for cheap labor. When businesses can’t get it.. they will force a technological leap to address their need.
I didn’t see that coming at all. . . . “Sarcasm”
Food replicators - frankenfood taken to the next level.
A long time ago, there used to be a comic strip, L’il Abner, by a fellow, Al Capp. One of the sequences was the construction of a continuous hot-dog producing machine, that had an oven and a sausage stuffing device, that made the sausages in a continuous stream, along with the simultaneous baking of the continuous ribbon of bun bread, coming out to the consumers who munched away at the exit point, buying the hot dog by the bite, until they were satiated and the next customer stepped up in line to take the next bite. People were lined up around the block.
Only, when and how does the process stop?
Less chance the machine spits in your food — especially if they’re using work release prisoners.
Of course it will result in closing of businesses and eventual collapse of the non-underground economy. i.e. Venezuela
Whatever you do, don't automate the advertising.
The writer erroneously assumes that those pushing for higher minimum wages are looking out for the best interests of those workers who would benefit from it.
Leftists know that jobs will be destroyed and these very workers will get exploited against businesses, so the Left can continue its objective of seizing absolute power.
She’s a delicious dish!
Great post.
RE: “whatever you do, don’t automate the advertising.”
To coin a phrase, something’s gotta give. If you place additional costs and burdens on business, A business has to react and compensate for the increased costs of doing business.
For years, banks and supermarkets have been lopping off employees. Plenty of bank windows and supermarket check-out lanes but all empty.
The corporations will happily tear down a perfectly good modern building and erect a new one at tremendous cost but they won’t hire another minimum age grunt to ease the wait in line.
I saw the headline. It’s what I’ve been saying for sometime.
Is there anyone who has not seen an automated checkout line?
It’s optional now. Later we will face a squeeze of long lines at the few remaining manned check-out line(s). Then, “once we’ve gotten used to it,” all check-out lines will be automated.
Without minimum wage increases, manned lines would have continued longer, perhaps another 50 years. Without a minimum wage in the first place, we might never have automated check-out lines.
We don’t actually “raise the minimum wage.” Instead, we outlaw low-paying jobs.

GOOD!

Less of them but those jobs have been replaced by TSA (government) workers security jobs funded by a tax on airline tickets.
GSs who cant be laid off.
In most cases of minimum wage it is tied in to labor union contracts and government employee wages. None of those fools care if their burgers are served by a machine.
She looks like a robot to me.
