Your post shows some confusion.
In the past, the slam "purist" has been directed at people who wouldn't get behind McCain or Romney, who said they wouldn't vote for such obviously corrupt tools of the GOP-E. So a "purist" is a knock on Tea Partiers who wouldn't follow the Judas horses into the corral.
