Like Cruz, candidates have every right to keep going.
Sounds like he’s pretty cocky about Texas. From what I see around me, it looks like he’s got north west Arkansas - If that translates to the rest of the state he’ll take at least two.

Even if Cruz wins TX, he’ll most likely be below the 50+1 rule, so the delegates will be proportional. If Trump wins 10 or 11 states, he will have a huge delegate lead, and Cruz’s campaign will be on life-support along with Rubio’s.
What will Cruz be saying if he doesn’t carry Texas?
Cruz will win Texas today, and perhaps one other. He will come pout of tonight with the second highest delegate count behind Trump...although likely only half the delegates Trump will have. He will stay in.
Kasich will wait until his home state of Ohio votes on the 8th. If he gets trounced there, it is likely that he gets out.
Rubio will not get out until he is badly trounced in Florida on the 15th....and probably not even then.
Carson is the only one likely to get out after tonight, but I think even he will wait until after the debate on Thursday.
Cruz will win TX.
Cruz should drop out if he doesn’t get 50% in Texas.

If Cruz does not carry Texas, regardless of what he says...his campaign will be over. He may soldier on, but it will be (like what is going to happen to Rubio) watching the lead horse gallop further and further into the distance.
I hate to say that because I am a Cruz supporter...but that’s just the reality.
I agree that they should be able to stay in if they can move the needle in some way. Cruz is... Cruising through right now. Rubio is fighting back and gaining some support.
Kasich and Carson on the other hand are just sinking lower. Carson and his “Fruit Salad” comment.... They are not moving the needle in any direction. I believe it is time for them to bow out.

At this point Trump is the only nominee viable to be put up, unless the Republicans play dirty tricks at their convention.... I believe the rules are you must win at least 8 states to be nominated, and Trump will be the only person to have won at least that many.
I am sure they have some back door archaic safety valve they can dust off, but if that’s true, this race is over.
Cruz may get TX but not by enough to trigger the Winner Take All... and Rubio may end the night without a single state win.
By the 15th this race is officially over, unless you see some insane shift in the dynamic in the next 7 days. After that, its just a matter of spending all the donated cash on frivolous expenses for any campaign that isn’t Trump’s.
We’re just kind of playing around speculating now, unitl we get the results of today’s primaries.

Hate to break it to you, but even if Cruz win’s TX and miraculously does so by a large enough margin to trigger the winner take all, I really don’t see any way he uses that to Pivot into a win of the whole enchillada... his message isn’t resonating.
Obviously I would expect the GOPe to latch onto any Cruz or Rubio win, no matter how small and try to spin it into the tide is turning... but its just desperation.
I said it a long time ago, this thing was Trump’s to lose, and like it or not, no one has been able to take him out... and I don’t see any way they will either.
Hillary will be the next person to be steamrolled by Trump.

Cruz has no viable chance to win the nomination, not only by delegate count but also through RNC Rule 40. He will not win a majority in 8 states.
He’s only trying to be the GOPe tool to get a brokered convention, where the RNC would give it to Rubio.
The only place this is truly a two man race is in Cruz’s ego.
