Currently the real ideological battle is between Globalism vrs Nationalism.

I disagree.

The battle is between Statism and Individualism.

That would be “Take on the Muslims and third world invaders and win. Through force of arms if required.”

At this moment in time nothing else can have priority.

Do you really want a Julius Caesar, or do you want to keep the Republic?

Trump is the perfect presidential candidate for post-modern America.

I agree with much of what you say. But the way dialectic works is that the two sides will merge into their common kernel, and a new antithesis will emerge.

The kernel that Sanders and Trump have in common is Statism, and the new antithesis will be Individualism. I too do not expect to live long enough to see the resolution of this.

Trump is the perfect presidential candidate for post-modern America.

You may well be right. We'll know in November.

But, if so, then post-modern America isn't the America that the Patriots fought for in the Revolution. We will have conceded that the liberals were right in redefining the Constitution as a living, breathing document — and all living things die.

I hope you're wrong.

“At this moment in time nothing else can have priority.”

No, even more important than a war with Islam is securing the border. THAT is our existential threat. The middle east could be locked out and widely ignored if we chose. But if the border is not secured, the country will be over.

Are you asserting that Islam could be fought without securing the border?

Securing the border would of necessity be included in my post.

There is a large group of people on this site that don't hear anything unless Trump says it. They don't read anything unless it compliments trump. They do not want the illusion broken and will attack absolutely anyone who comes close to piercing the veil between the world they want and the one we live in.

That’s right. “Shut Up” - Don’t you dare tell me anything I don’t want to hear. I used to think this was a disease solely owned by democrats.

Well said, Persephone... When Thomas Sowell writes his thoughts, I ALWAYS listen. Perhaps people dissing Sowell don’t know who he is and haven’t read his many many excellent Op Eds.

Sowell is right on many counts. Trump is a glib egomaniac with a bit too much bravado and short on intellect. Trump is right to want to make America a MERITOCRACY, not a MEDIOCRACY. He’s right to attack the Political Correctness Fascism. But he lacks the diplomatic strength that Reagan had in foreign policy. Instead, he will make some serious egotistical blunders in foreign policy that’ll get us into trouble.

Unless, of course, Trump hires the best minds on foreign policy to guide him, which is a possibility...

My opinion is explained very well by Sowell.

I have nothing to add.

Voters have a responsibility too. They might well ask themselves: Do I plan to use my vote to vent my emotions or to try to help save this country?

Sowell is logically sloppy here.

We can vote to vent our emotions AND try to help save this country all at the same time.

In other words, we can do both.

They are not mutually exclusive.

And by voting for Trump, we can achieve both ends.

I used to think this was a disease solely owned by democrats.

Myself as well....until I redefined the participants.

While we know that liberalism is akin to a psychological condition, we really have not delved into it's roots in terms of the makeup and function of the brain. We look at it from a political viewpoint and not a medical one.

Conservatism is much more than a few political viewpoints or agreements in theory.

It's a way of thinking. It's more of a balance of logic and knowledge based on history with a mix of compassion. But the compassion does not outweigh the logic or knowledge in decision making.

Basically it's a question of which side of the brain dominates. What we see here is a lot of right brained decision making and this is not conservative. It's just not.

But he (Trump) lacks the diplomatic strength that Reagan had in foreign policy.

Not true.

Right now, Trump has the same amount of foreign policy diplomatic strength as Reagan did when he became president, both had zilch.

However, they both brought tremendous negotiation skills to the presidency, Reagan through his time as head of the screen actors guild and as California Governor, and Trump through all his business dealings.

But if you compare the time each has spent in negotiations before becoming president, Trump outclasses Reagan by decades.
