The magic 8 rule could actually prevent any other candidates name from being entered into nomination. This rule may end up dictating that the ONLY name on the first ballot is Trump. Hows that for irony?
Truly sweet is how that irony is! Thank you for your response and laying that out so clearly. I’ve read claims that the candidate would require eight states with over 50% of the vote and so on, and could see real problems reaching that. Trump can win this outright. No wonder there is panic in the bunker!
Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, and Carson all have the same path to the GOP nomination - they all need to stay in and hope Trump self-destructs before the voting is done. I keep hoping Rubio and Kasich will each stay in as long as the other does, to split the establishment vote, and I keep getting my wish.
As for Cruz, Trump, and Carson, those are my top three choices, in that order. I like having a backup candidate in the mix as long as it doesn’t risk a RINO win from Rubio or Kasich.
I cleaned it up a little and started a separate thread ... I thought some other folks might be interested in our discussion.
Is there anything that prevents the GOPe from changing the rules before the convention?
Ted’s horse has died he just won’t get off. :-)
I saw that and it the most helpful post I’ve seen in some time. Thank you, BlueNgold!
