Mandatory return of all criminal aliens. The Obama Administration has released 76,000 aliens from its custody with criminal convictions since 2013 alone. All criminal aliens must be returned to their home countries, a process which can be aided by canceling any visas to foreign countries which will not accept their own criminals, and making it a separate and additional crime to commit an offense while here illegally.

Detention--not catch-and-release. Illegal aliens apprehended crossing the border must be detained until they are sent home, no more catch-and-release.

Defund sanctuary cities. Cut-off federal grants to any city which refuses to cooperate with federal law enforcement.

I would back Trump if THIS WAS ALL HE WAS OFFERING... These three paragraphs offer more than democrats and Republicans have done together on 'immigration' in the past 30 years... and Trump's offering more - a lot more.

There is hope.

A couple of my co-workers and I worked for the same small one owner engineering and construction company in the early 2000’s-I was required to check and copy the ID of everyone who did work for us on any job-no exceptions, and no one got work unless they were a US citizen or green card-and citizens were always given work first-also, back then if you were hiring illegals, you could be in a heap of trouble.

We still do that, but it does make work harder to find, even for those who do contract labor-I’m all for returning to fines and other penalties for hiring illegals-no exceptions.

So are you trying to say that because none of his towers have fallen down, that means he must have strong unchanging principles? Not really following your logic here....

I am saying that large parts of his life’s work have been dealing with hard, unchangeable realities, complex interactions with contractural obligations and promises that have to be kept because thousands of lives are at stake — that is the reality of a building falling down, but it is also a metaphor for the role of the planner and executor of plans.

He is not an ideologue. He is a realist who works with situations as they are, takes advice from good people and negotiates the best plan from the best input he can gather. In other words, an executive. I don’t think you need to worry about him trying to take a leftist point of view and ram it through. He is putting his entire life and family at risk to try to save this country, which is in dire financial shape, demoralized, dumbed down, indoctrinated, and corrupt. It needs a “turnaround artist”, in corporate parlance.

He has the skills to take a big picture approach to reorganization of the broken Executive Branch and stimulate accountability from the other two branches. The ideologues can and certainly will fight for their positions within that government. He sees his job as getting the most pulled together for the best outcome in the situation as we find it.

His life’s work has focused on quality and hard reality, not empty promises and the perpetual campaigning on other people’s money like the DC politicians.

Question: The higher costs will be passed to the consumers which is you and me. Is this not correct? This is what I have read for the last four decades over and over again.

We have nukes. Mexico doesn't.

Laz....I know you have said some 'tongue-in-cheek' things in the past. Surely....you can't POSSIBLY be serious that Trump would actually threaten to NUKE MEXICO if they don't pay for the Southern Border Defense Wall?

Higher costs could be passed if incapable people and incompetent leadership continue to occupy federal offices.

Mexican business persons can run rings around the US federal government because the ranks of federal offices are led by persons that are restricted from negotiating the best terms for Americans and who wouldn’t know what to do even if they were allowed to negotiate.

Donald Trump has been saying all along that Mexicans are smarter than our people.

When it becomes more widely known just how brilliant Trump is when it comes to business, in matters of banking, regulation, insurance, taxes, trade, negotiation, contracts, and so on, once a person becomes aware that Trump stands head and shoulders above others in his field (and there are youtube videos of him testifying to Congress in the 1980s that demonstrate his mastery of all matters related to commerce), once it sets in, it becomes easier to imagine how he will structure the deals.

He will not let the Mexicans get away with shifting their tax burden to American consumers (my opinion). To allow them this defeats the whole purpose. Because he is right that foreign governments and corporations think Americans are stupid (and we are) because they get everything for free. There’s nothing like engendering respect than making someone pay with money. Money focuses the mind like a laser.

Once money is turned over, the respect comes naturally whether the paying person was duped or satisfied. Forking over money engenders respect because it is a form of bowing down in respect. This is a very important point to understand and it must be understood in order to understand where Donald Trump is coming from.

Trump will have a lot of tools at his disposal to counter any games the Mexicans play. With the support of Congress, he has quotas, he has absurdly high duties he can charge, he has the ability to delay so much so that it becomes a harassment, he has penalties he can impose for safety, health, lack of inspections, penalties on currency manipulation.

He will be able to launch a full-scale trade war with Mexico if necessary. If he wants the Mexicans to eat it, they will.

One has to ask if they were to pretend they were a Mexican business or Mexican trade official, will it be worth it to face off against Trump and play games with him? Will he be easy to snooker?

I think the Mexicans will eat it. They stand to lose tens of billions in trade revenues and tens of billions more in remittances if they go up against Trump and lose.

Now ask yourself, do you think Trump likes to lose?

No! Trump does not like to lose. Thanks for the response. It is greatly appreciated and gives me something to think about.

“A 10% tax on all Mexican imports to the US would cause Mexican products to be 10% more expensive to the US customers, who would actually pay the 10% difference. “

Things are not so static as that. That’s simpleton thinking, typically a liberal way of thinking.

“So US consumers would end up paying the tax, not Mexico. “

If we choose to buy the product, yes, but we wouldn’t be forced to buy it.

Corporations do not pay taxes. Taxes may be levied upon them, but only people pay taxes. So ANY tax on imports would be paid by American consumers.
